Without asking anything in return or knowing he was being filmed, a Florida police officer truly went above and beyond for a homeless man in his community.
A man only identified as “Phil” reportedly went to McDonald’s in Tallahassee to apply for a job, but was told he could not be hired unless he shaved his beard.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Phil then started shaving his thick beard in a gas station parking lot without a mirror. This is where Officer Tony Carlson comes in.
Officer Carlson saw the man struggling, then tightened the screw on Phil’s razor and proceeded to shave Phil’s face for him. An observer captured the act of kindness on camera and posted it to Facebook where it went viral. See the video below:
“If he’s wanting to help himself, I need to be more than helpful and try to help him out the best I can,” Carlson told the Tallahassee Democrat.
In a later interview, Phil announced that McDonald’s promised him a job if he showed up to work clean and without his beard.
