First Lady Melania Trump has taken a lot of hate from leftist “Mean Girls” this week for having the audacity to place 40 topiary trees strung together by cranberries and red berries in the East Colonnade of the White House as part of her 2018 Christmas decor. Rather than retreat from the scene in a one-horse open sleigh as the Grinches rampage across social media, she’s hitting back.
Speaking with Eric Bolling of Fox News on Wednesday, the First Lady said her red trees were “fantastic” and a matter of taste. Bolling concurred and could not understand where all the hate was generated from.
“I’m telling you, I can’t believe this. What are they [the media] hung up on with the First Lady right now? The red Christmas trees in the White House,” Bolling began, prompting a giggle from Melania Trump.
He continued: “Now, I will tell you, on the flight over here, my wife said, ‘I want a red Christmas tree in my house now, too. Are we kidding? This is what they worry about?”
Melania said her trees were “fantastic” and that her critics — the ones who constantly badger people about diversity — should recognize different tastes. ”We are in 21st century and everybody has a different taste. I think they look fantastic,” said Melania.
The First Lady turned the moment into an invitation for people to come over and visit the people’s house for some Christmas cheer.
“I hope everyone will come over and visit it. In real life, they look even more beautiful,” she said. “You’re all very welcome to visit the White House, the People’s House.”
Though the First Lady was talking about a matter of tastes, her critics have gone far beyond that, suggesting the red trees were somehow indicative of something sinister lurking in Melania Trump’s soul.
Vice even declared that Melania’s decor resembles a “circle of hell Dante could never have dreamed up.”
“It’s 2018: It’s well-established that we live in hell. It only makes sense that the first lady’s Christmas decorations would match the bleakness of the Trump era,” said Vice.
Vanity Fair said Melania Trump’s Christmas decor always seem to have “a touch of menace to them.”
“It wouldn’t be a Trump White House Christmas without, again, a menacing touch to what is otherwise a lavishly and beautifully wrought winter wonderland,” said VF. “This year, crimson red trees dotted a long hallway, dyed with what I assume is liberal blood a-boiling.”
Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor pointed out that the media would never be so vicious if the decorations had been planned by Michelle Obama.
“The War on Christmas has evolved into more of the media’s War on Trump,” said Gainor. “According to the juvenile style mavens that dominate the lefty media, Melania’s Christmas style is somehow ‘spooky’ or ‘deeply haunted.’ Compare that to how The Washington Post described Michelle Obama as a ‘pro in dressing up the place’ whose decorations delivered her own ‘steady recognition of military service.'”
Melania Trump unveiled her White House Christmas decor on Monday after working with a team of designers since August. The theme selected for 2018 was “American Treasures” to highlight our country’s “unique heritage.” Here is the video in case you missed it:
