During Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” the co-hosts were all seemingly in agreement that gun confiscation is a way to quell mass shootings in America — all the co-hosts, that is, save Meghan McCain. The lone pro-Second Amendment lady at the roundtable pressed her colleagues calling for confiscation of so-called “assault rifles,” warning that there will be “a lot of violence” if the government were to implement such a gun-grab.

“I’m not living without my guns,” McCain bluntly stated.

The interaction went down after co-host Joy Behar suggested “you’re going to get nothing done” about “assault weapons” if left to elected Republicans.

“The AR-15 is by far the most popular gun in America — by far,” McCain said. “I was just in middle-of-nowhere Wyoming; if you’re talking about going and taking people’s guns from them, there’s going to be a lot of violence.”

“I’m not living without guns. It’s just that simple,” the 34-year-old added.

“How about living without the assault weapons that are killing our children?” co-host Sonny Hostin asked McCain, to which the Republican snapped: “I love being virtue-signaled at 20 minutes into the show.” (“The View” just returned from a summer taping reprieve.)

Co-host Abby Huntsman, supposedly another Right-leaning voice on the daytime show, chimed in: “How about we live in a place where we can actually walk in a mall and not look around and be nervous that someone is gonna pull out a shotgun?”

“I’m sorry but, none of you feel safe? I feel safe that I can protect myself,” McCain responded. “And I have guns in my house.”

A vast majority of gun violence in the United States is carried out by handguns, not “assault rifles.” This was even been acknowledged by CNN, whose intended goal to push gun control efforts has become quite clear. According to CNN Money, over 90% of the homicides in Illinois (97%), Maryland (96%), and Louisiana (93%) occurred with a handgun.

Moreover, as outlined by Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro last year, banning AR-15s — as proposed by most of the ladies at “The View” on Tuesday — is completely unrealistic.

“Americans own more than 8 million AR-15s,” said Shapiro, adding that “the AR-15 is a quality semi-automatic rifle, but it’s not the only semi-automatic rifle — there are another seven million in circulation. Virtually all manufactured rifles carry the same key features as the AR-15, so long as they don’t involve a manual reloading mechanism (bolt action, lever action, pump action, e.g.).”

And then there’s the reality that there is no evidence to suggest former President Bill Clinton’s 1994 assault weapons ban did anything to prevent any mass shootings, he noted. According to an independent study commissioned by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the 1994 assault weapons ban did not even reduce gun violence, The Washington Times reported in 2004.

“We cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nation’s recent drop in gun violence. And, indeed, there has been no discernible reduction in the lethality and injuriousness of gun violence,” the NIJ report said.
