President Trump’s July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has given the Democratic leadership the rationale to finally begin in earnest what the far-left wing of the party has been calling for since before Donald Trump even took office — and the left-leaning press have launched a blitz campaign to help them accomplish that goal.
As many on the right have pointed out, the very same group declaring impeachment are now supposedly merited because Trump asked the Ukrainian president to “look into” the corruption allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden and his son. They have been saying that about a lot of things for a long time. In fact, as a report released last week by the Media Research Center highlights, many in the media started pushing the impeachment angle within a couple of days of Trump’s election.
MRC looked back at media coverage concerning any calls for the impeachment of Trump and found that Democrat-sympathizing media members have been pushing the idea as far back as just two days after Trump’s upset victory of the prohibitive favorite, Hillary Clinton.
“By November 10, 2016 — just two days after the election! — television talking heads were already conjuring up theoretical scenarios in which Donald Trump could be removed from office,” MRC’s NewsBusters reports. “Since then, TV journalists have amassed quite a repertoire of possible causes for a premature end to the Trump White House, including (but not limited to): his tax returns; his family’s business dealings, both home and abroad; his firing of various cabinet officials; and of course, his tweets.”
MRC also provided a supercut video tracking media figures going out of their way to promote the possibility of Trump’s impeachment for a remarkably diverse range of media-hyped Trump “scandals” spanning from November 2016 to September 2019, amounting to some 35 months of almost nonstop “impeachment” talk:

In the Ukraine call complaint, which was released by the Trump administration on Thursday, the whistleblower accuses Trump of “using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election,” particularly by “pressuring a foreign country to investigate one of the President’s main domestic political rivals.” According to The New York Times, the whistleblower, whose identity has yet to be released, is a CIA agent who was assigned to the White House — or, as Trump’s defenders put it, the whistleblower is a “deep state plant.”
In addition to releasing the complaint, Trump authorized releasing the transcript of the call that started it all. Democrats insist the call includes a quid pro quo, but Trump’s team points out that the transcript reveals otherwise.
“I heard you had a prosecutor who was very good and he was shut down, and that’s really unfair,” Trump told Zelensky, the official transcript reveals. “A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people involved. Mr. Giuliani is a highly respected man. He was the mayor of New York City, a great mayor, and I would like him to call you. I will ask him to call you along with the Attorney General. Rudy very much knows what’s happening and he is a very capable guy. If you could speak to him that would be great. The former ambassador from the United States, the woman, was bad news so I just want to let you know that. The other thing, there’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution, so if you can look into it … It sounds horrible to me.”
