The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released a short video late Tuesday, showing LVPD officers coming under fire as they stood guard around the Route 91 country music festival Sunday night.

The harrowing footage, taken from first responders’ bodycams, shows officers running for cover as thousands of rounds rained down on the concert from a 32nd floor window at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. It also shows officers rushing to get country music fans out of the line of fire, and over to safety.

The video lasts only just over three minutes, but seems to go on forever.

Undersheriff Kevin C. McMahill said, during a news conference where the video was released, that officers in the footage were trying to figure out the source of the gunfire.

In the background, you can hear Paddock firing hundreds of shots as officers dive to take cover and instruct festival-goers around them to seek shelter, either with them, or as far away as possible from the casino across the street. An officer can be heard telling bystanders to keep track of his flourescent safety vest, and stay near him as he leads them to safety.

Near the end of the video, you can also see officers, guns drawn, beginning to head toward the Mandalay Bay.

It took a casino guard only a few minutes to identify which room the shooter was taking aim from, but when he approached the suite from the elevator, Paddock, who had cameras set up in a room service cart in the hallway just outside his nest, shot through the door, wounding the guard.

It took just under an hour for LVMPD to assemble a SWAT team and storm room 32-135 but by then, Paddock had shot himself.
