The blackface nightmare Democrats are facing in Virginia has curiously not been referenced at all on the late-night shows of a couple of popular liberal hosts. Both Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon have avoided commenting on Demoratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s infamous blackface/KKK photo (and his Michael Jackson impersonation), nor have either acknowledged the new admission by the Democrat who’s second in line for the governorship that he too dressed in blackface.
While Fallon is less political than Kimmel, he has allowed himself to get a bit more political after massive backlash from his liberal audience over his decision to interview then-candidate Donald Trump in 2016, which critics blasted as helping to “normalize” Trump. Kimmel, meanwhile, has embraced left-wing politics enthusiastically, frequently using his show to hammer various Democratic talking points and regularly condemning Trump.
