Mutilating the genitals of little girls with hopes that they will remain chaste is apparently a progressive push for gender inclusion. During a disturbing Wednesday night appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight, anthropologist and former United Nations consultant Dr. Fuambai Ahmadu argued just that.
Ahmadu, who chose to undergo female genital mutilation (FGM) herself as an adult, downplayed the brutal surgery as a mere “nick” of the clitoris. The anthropologist even defended the two recent doctors brought up on charges for mutilating little girls via FGM procedures. Additionally, Ahmadu makes the outrageous claim that FMG, which she disingenuously refers to as “female circumcision,” are “gender-egalitarian surgeries.”
“I don’t identify with the term FGM, with the term ‘mutilation,'” Ahmadu told Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “I don’t know anyone in my family who does or my community, and from over 25 years of research I have done in the field, I say the great majority of women who are affected by what I call ‘female circumcision practices’ do not see themselves as mutilated.”
“When we use the term ‘female genital mutilation,’ automatically, a certain image comes to mind,” Ahmadu continued, “an image that has really been put out there for over 30, 40 years, in the media, the mainstream media, obviously, through efforts and women’s groups. It is the idea of the most horrific type of procedure.”
Ahmadu then went on to defend Dr. Jumana Nagarwala and Dr. Fakhruddin Attar, two Muslim doctors recently charged with mutilating the genitals of young girls. The former UN consultant claimed they merely performed a “nick” on the clitoris; this was disproved by a medical report which found the girls to be mutilated.
The woman continued, making the galling claim that FGM is actually just a sign of real gender inclusion and progress. Seriously.
“We do remove the foreskin on boys; we do practice genital cutting here, in the U.S., on boys, then it lshoud not be impossible to understand that there are cultures, there are societies, that practice, what certain people are now calling gender inclusive genital surgeries,” she said.
“In our culture, we don’t discriminate, we have gender-egalitarian surgeries. We do not discriminate,” she repeated. “We don’t discriminate.”

FGM is a cultural practice associated with the religion of Islam which seeks to “void female sexual pleasure, intending to keep girls and women chaste and sexually pure, or to prevent adultery. It often leads to medical complications and is even linked to increased death in newborns.”
Per Newsweek, the barbaric practice “involves cutting the external female genitalia for non-medical reasons. Depending on local customs, it could also include additional modifications ranging from cutting away part of the clitoris to removing the inner and outer vaginal lips before sewing the remaining skin together, leaving a small hole for urination and menstrual blood.”
As reported by Daily Caller’s Peter Hasson, “Ahmadu worked at the United Nations Children’s Fund in the early 2000’s as a ‘lead consultant’ according to her Linkedin. She later worked from 2008 to 2010 at the National Institute of Child Health and Development, which falls under the US Department of Health and Human Services.”
