A gruesome video of a gang-related murder on the New York City subway has gone viral. A suspected MS-13 gang member shot a member of a rival gang in the face numerous times in a daytime shooting on Sunday. The suspected gang member has since been arrested.
The incident occurred on the 7 train subway platform in Queens, which is in Democratic darling Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s district.
Notably, Ocasio-Cortez has been an outspoken advocate for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). MS-13 is a murderous gang comprised of mainly immigrants from El Salvador, and the suspect in Sunday’s murder was previously arrested by ICE.
Ramiro Gutierrez, 26, “was reportedly free on $2,500 bail at the time after being busted on attempted murder and other charges in December,” reported Fox News.
Gutierrez was arrested by authorities on Monday and charged on Tuesday with second-degree murder, gang assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. The victim has been identified as Abel Mosso, a 20-year-old reported member of the 18th Street Gang, a rival gang of MS-13.
Gutierrez was indicted by a Queens County grand jury in December, along with 11 other alleged MS-13 gang members, “on various charges including attempted murder and conspiracy, in addition to drug and weapons charges,” according to Fox News. Gutierrez’s immigration status was never expressly specified.
Gutierrez, Josue “Colocho” Levia, 21, and Angel “Chamuco” Romero, 20, “were plotting to raid a home in Queens where they believed $80,000 was stashed inside,” noted Fox, and the charge of attempted murder “appeared to stem from an alleged plan to kill someone who wanted out of the gang, according to the ICE news release.”
The brutal video shows a group of men wrestling on the ground. The shooter, allegedly Gutierrez, then unloads six shots, reportedly at the victim’s face. As chaos ensue from horrified passersby, the suspect flees the scene, leaving his victim’s lifeless body.

Ocasio-Cortez has been adamant that ICE has no place in Queens or in the entire United States. In June, the Democrat told Documented NY: “In a similar way, where we have law enforcement enforce legitimate crimes of violence, crimes of harm, mass, large fraud. I think that there is a role for enforcement there, but I do not think that it in any way is equivocal [sic] to what we are seeing with ICE right now.”
“One of these days, I hope people realize that the idea that ICE should be scrapped isn’t so crazy after all,” Ocasio-Cortez doubled down in a Thursday tweet. “ICE jails children in for-profit detention centers funded by private equity [groups]. Kids are dying w/ 0 accountability. If that’s not totally broken, I don’t know what is.”
As noted by Ryan Girdusky, a New York City native and Washington Examiner contributor, ICE arrested 107 illegal aliens with criminal records in Queens, NY, from January 14-18 — just weeks before Sunday’s subway murder.
Other Democrats, like State Senator Jessica Ramos, an ally of Ocasio-Cortez, have likewise demonized ICE.
