Neo-Marxist CNN Democrat Van Jones described Donald Trump’s electoral win as a “whitelash” against “a black president” and “a changing country” in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
During a discussion panel hosted by left-wing Democrat Anderson Cooper, Jones pushed his racial agitation without challenge. He claimed to have Muslim and immigration friends and contacts who were fearing for their safety after learning of Trump’s electoral win.
“People have talked about a miracle. I’m hearing about a nightmare. It’s hard to be a parent tonight for a lot of us. You tell your kids, ‘Don’t be a bully.’ You tell your kids, ‘Don’t be a bigot.’ You tell your kids, ‘Do your homework, and be prepared.’ And then you have this outcome and you have people putting children to bed tonight, and they’re afraid of breakfast. They’re afraid of, ‘How do I explain this to my children?’ I have Muslim friends who are texting me tonight, saying, ‘Should I leave the country?’ I have families of immigrants that are terrified tonight.
We’ve talked about everything but race tonight. We’ve talked about income, we’ve talked about class, we’ve talked about region. We haven’t talked about race. This was a whitelash. This was a whitelash against a changing country. This was a whitelash against a black president, in part. And that’s the part where the pain comes.”
Without any sense of irony, Jones cast himself as belonging to an aggrieved group of unspecified minorities who feel marginalized by Trump’s rhetoric.
“We don’t want to feel that someone has been elected by throwing away some of us to appeal more deeply to others.”
No data was provided as evidence of Jones’s assertion. Trump outperformed his recent Republican presidential predecessors with respect to the share of black voters whose support he secured.
Jones has regularly described Trump as a man who traffics in racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and other bigotries. In the above-described segment, he is now attaching such bigotries to white people in the aggregate or to his perception of white racial identity.
