United Airlines resumed flights across the U.S. on Tuesday after experiencing a computer problem, the airline said in a statement.

“We have identified a fix for the technology issue and flights have resumed,” the company said in an update. “We’re working with impacted customers to help them reach their destinations as soon as possible.”

The Federal Aviation Administration had announced the temporary grounding on Tuesday afternoon.

“.@united asked the FAA to pause the airline’s departures nationwide,” the FAA wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “For more information, contact United regarding its request.”

The agency said people should also monitor its website for updates.

“We are experiencing a systemwide technology issue and are holding all aircraft at their departure airports,” United Airlines said during the temporary grounding of flights. “Flights that are already airborne are continuing to their destination as planned. We will share more information as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience as we work on a resolution to get you on your way as soon as possible.”

United Airlines, which is one of the largest airlines in the world, had estimated that this Labor Day weekend would be the busiest in its history with approximately 2.8 million people traveling.
