UFC fighter Conor McGregor traveled to Washington, D.C., on Monday for a meeting with President Donald Trump about problems that his home country of Ireland is facing as a result of mass migration.

McGregor told reporters from the White House briefing room that his conversation with the president would be “music to the people of Ireland’s ears because never on the main stage has the issues the people of Ireland face been spoke.”

“Our government has long since abandoned the voices of the people of Ireland, and it’s high time that America is made aware of what is going on in Ireland,” he said. “What is going on in Ireland is a travesty. Our government is the government of zero action with zero accountability.”

In a clip posted to X by Elon Musk, who serves as one of Trump’s top advisers in the White House, McGregor said that taxpayers’ money in his country was being spent on overseas issues that have nothing to do with Ireland.

“The illegal immigration racket is running ravage on the country,” he said. “There are rural towns in Ireland that have been overrun in one swoop, that have become a minority in one swoop.”

He warned that the tens of millions of Irish Americans living in the U.S. needed to educate themselves about what was happening in Ireland because if not, “there will be no place to come home and visit.”

“Ireland is at the cusp of potentially losing its Irishness,” he said. “And I’m here to raise the issue and highlight it.”

The most recent statistics released by the Irish government last year found that more than 100,000 immigrants came to the country between April 2023 and April 2024.

That number is double the number of people who were born in Ireland, just slightly over 52,000, during that same time period.

Recent data shows that Ireland’s total immigrant population hovered around 150,000, the highest number in nearly two decades.
