<p>The U.S. military said in a statement on Saturday that it launched airstrikes against terrorist targets belonging to Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/yemen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yemen</a>.</p>
<p>The statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) comes after the Houthis have launched hundreds of attacks on merchant and naval vessels operating in and around the Red Sea for more than a year.</p>
<p>U.S. forces “conducted precision airstrikes against a missile storage facility and a command-and-control facility operated by Iran-backed Houthis within Houthi-controlled territory in Sana&#8217;a, Yemen, on Dec. 21 Yemen time,” CENTCOM said in a statement.</p>
<p>The operation involved the use of U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy assets, including F/A-18s.</p>
<p>CENTCOM said that the strike was made to “disrupt and degrade Houthi operations, such as attacks against U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and Gulf of Aden.”</p>

<p>During the mission, CENTCOM said that they shot down “multiple Houthi one way attack uncrewed aerial vehicles (OWA UAV) and an anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) over the Red Sea.”</p>

<p>CENTCOM has also conducted strikes in Syria over the last couple of weeks after Islamic terrorists overran dictator Bashar al-Assad’s regime, forcing him into exile in Russia.</p>
<p>The strikes successfully eliminated the leader of ISIS and more than a dozen ISIS terrorists.</p>
