A magazine in the United Kingdom and Europe that celebrates LGBTQ issues named trans-identifying male Dylan Mulvaney its “Woman of The Year” at the 2023 annual awards show.

During the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, which was sponsored by Virgin Atlantic airlines, the host of the awards show proudly announced that the “Woman of the Year” winner was TikTok star Mulvaney.

Mulvaney took the stage and said hello to London before talking about how “honored” he was to be with them.

In his acceptance speech, the social media influencer took a swipe at those who “don’t see me as a woman at all” — and those he labeled “extremist media” who have slammed him — without naming what outlets those were.

“Which is why receiving this honor from a queer publication like Attitude means so much more to me,” Mulvaney told the audience. “Because here’s what I’ve realized, no matter how hard I try or what I wear or what I say or what surgeries I get, I will never reach an acceptable version of womanhood by those hateful people’s standards.”

“But as long as I have the queer community that sees me for my truth, I’m gonna be okay,” he added.

Earlier this year the transgender activist partnered with Bud Light to sell its beer and a huge backlash ensued against the both him and the brand, resulting in a widespread boycott of the beer that sent sales plummeting.

Mulvaney recently talked about the “hate and vitriol” he had experienced over the partnership and suggested “companies should forge true partnerships with trans-identified spokespersons rather than engaging in “performative” marketing catered to those groups, as previously reported.

“If you’re going to ask us to capitalize on our vulnerabilities and our traumas, at least have our backs when the going gets tough,” Mulvaney told Seth Matlins, managing director of the Forbes CMO Network, at the 2023 Forbes CMO Summit in Miami.
