<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Trans-identified activist Dylan Mulvaney has joined in on the trend of threatening to leave the United States for good.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I’m trying to move here permanent [sic],” he </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DIolRogP_CQ/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">told</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> the U.K.-based outlet Pink News while discussing his lead role in the musical stage play “We Aren’t Kids Anymore,” which is playing at the Savoy Theatre in London.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“There’s something about being here that makes me feel like, people have been so kind, and the theater culture’s amazing, and Percy Pigs are my favorite,” Mulvaney continued. “So honestly, that makes the move worth it.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This isn’t the first time Mulvaney, best known for partnering with Bud Light in what became one of the biggest PR disasters in history, has discussed leaving his home country. The trans activist fled to Peru in 2023 to “feel something” and “feel safe,” as The Daily Wire previously </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dylan-mulvaney-flies-to-peru-to-feel-safe-participate-in-shaman-ceremonies-amid-bud-light-backlash"><span style="font-weight: 400;">reported</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I’ve seen a lot of llamas. The people here are so kind. I feel very safe here,” Mulvaney said at the time. “It’s a little sad that I had to leave my country to feel safe but that will get better eventually.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Anheuser-Busch lost billions of dollars in market value after a partnership with Mulvaney, in which the activist was sent a Bud Light can with his face on it. Mulvaney later blasted Bud Light, saying that the brand did not do enough to “publicly stand” up for him. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I took a brand deal with a company that I loved. And I posted a sponsored video to my page,” Mulvaney said at the time. “And it must have been a slow news week, because the way that this ad got blown up, you would have thought I was like, on a billboard, or on a TV commercial or something major, but no, it was just an Instagram video.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“And I was waiting for the brand to reach out to me, but they never did. And for months now, I’ve been scared to leave my house, I have been ridiculed in public, I’ve been followed,” Mulvaney added. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sales of Bud Light plummeted following the Mulvaney partnership, and the beer has since lost its place as one of the country’s 10 most popular beers. Years later, its reputation still hasn’t fully recovered.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Meanwhile, Mulvaney might not find the absolute acceptance he’s seeking in London. The United Kingdom’s highest court </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/uk-supreme-court-rules-trans-identifying-men-are-not-women"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ruled last week</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that the legal definition of “woman” is based on biology and does not include trans-identifying men who say they are women.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the landmark judgment, the British Supreme Court ruled that the meaning of “woman” in equality legislation is a “biological woman and biological sex,” and the “concept of sex is binary, a person is either a woman or a man.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are a lot of things I&#8217;m willing to do for my podcast — a lot of sacrifices I&#8217;ve made over the years, both big and small. And usually I don&#8217;t like to draw attention to these sacrifices because no one tunes in to listen to my personal problems. But today I have to make an exception to my normal practice. And once you see the footage I&#8217;m about to share with you, you&#8217;ll see why.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I just endured what could be the single greatest trial of my podcasting career, if not my entire life on this planet. Without the assistance of any mind-altering substances or the YouTube fast-forward button or anything like that, I just listened to multiple minutes of Michelle Obama&#8217;s new podcast called &#8220;IMO.&#8221; Each episode is a full hour, and it features Michelle Obama, her brother Craig, and sometimes, if you&#8217;re lucky, a special guest.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The special guest, however, isn&#8217;t an important part of the formula. Whether the guest is there or not, you can expect to listen to approximately one hour of Michelle and her brother talking about themselves. It&#8217;s actually impressive, the degree to which the entire show is about inane, completely uninteresting details of these two people&#8217;s lives.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here&#8217;s just a sampling of the first episode. And frankly, it&#8217;s an impressive achievement if you can even manage to get through this short montage of the most banal and uninteresting footage ever recorded. Here it is:</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When she says &#8220;blah blah blah&#8221; at the end of that clip — that was the one moment, in this entire hour-long episode, that really resonated with me on a deep level. That was when I thought she recognized that actually, people didn&#8217;t want to hear about her inferiority complex at Princeton, or her mom giving her an alarm clock as a kid, or the precise educational credentials of her husband. Maybe this would mark a pivot point in the podcast, where she starts talking about something remotely interesting. But it never happened. It never even came close to happening.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">By far the best part of the first episode was the comments section, which included lines like: &#8220;This should be called “Drop the Mike” with Michelle Obama&#8221;; &#8220;Remember when this guy drowned his chef in a lovers quarrel?&#8221;; and &#8220;Joan Rivers was Right.&#8221; And then Mark Dice chimes in with, &#8220;Which one is Michelle?” — which is, credit where it’s due, one of the funnier YouTube comments I’ve read in quit some time. Then there&#8217;s a bunch of people wondering why she&#8217;s unwilling to be seen in public with her husband anymore. And then there&#8217;s this observation: &#8220;Someone here has got some serious balls, by that I mean whoever hasn&#8217;t disabled the comments yet.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And that last person makes a particularly good point. You will not find a single positive comment anywhere on the page. As of Wednesday afternoon, a full 24 hours after this episode launched, it managed to rack up just 65,000 views. And more than half of that figure is from trolls. In the first 15 hours, it had under 20,000 views. Now everyone&#8217;s flooding in to mock it — but in the first two days it did not come close to 100 thousand views, which is the bare minimum you&#8217;d expect a podcast like this to achieve. Overnight it seems to have made it up to 160 thousand views, which means they’re almost certainly paying for views now. But all in all, this show has not resonated, to put it mildly.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It&#8217;s actually incredible, if you think about it. Someone as famous as Michelle Obama launches a podcast that&#8217;s been so widely promoted and publicized, and yet no one&#8217;s watching it. The media tells us that Michelle is highly popular and would be a shoo-in if she ran for president. But the numbers suggest that the public isn&#8217;t all that interested in her.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Just to be sure I wasn&#8217;t missing anything, I subjected myself to the second episode of the podcast, which was also released on Wednesday. This one features an actress as a guest, but it doesn&#8217;t remotely change what they talk about, which is themselves. Watch:</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The lack of self-awareness is genuinely breathtaking, and at least a little hilarious. That last clip came at the very end of the episode, by the way. She spends the whole time talking about herself. And then she nosedives into astrology, and she claims she&#8217;s really interested in trying to understand other people. Having discussed herself for two hours across two episodes, Michelle Obama wants you to know that she&#8217;s really interested in understanding other people. That&#8217;s what this is all about. And once again, the comments are full of people asking what Big Mike did to the chef. This episode has about 75 thousand views in two days. Just for comparison sake, Joe Rogan released an episode on the same day. It has a million views.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unfortunately for anyone hoping the misery would end here, there was one more video — a &#8220;digital exclusive&#8221; — that they uploaded along with these episodes. Picture the most cliched, trite content imaginable. And somehow this will probably exceed your expectations. Even if you managed to get through the other two clips, there&#8217;s a very good chance this will take you out. Watch:</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Whatever focus group they paid to come up with segments like this, they need to get a refund immediately. It&#8217;s like if you asked AI to generate a relatable podcast. It would come up with exactly this segment, and have everyone say exactly what these people are saying, and then it would give the podcast the name &#8220;IMO.&#8221; This is what Michelle Obama — who again, some people still pretend is major star and a potential presidential contender — is capable of producing. By the way, that video about hotdogs has 25 thousand views.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is not just a problem that Michelle is facing. This is a broader crisis on the Left. The trans activist Dylan Mulvaney, for example, has just launched yet another effort to get himself some publicity, after falling off the face of the Earth. Specifically he released a new book that promises a &#8220;modern lens to womanhood,&#8221; even though it&#8217;s written by a man who decided he was a woman a couple of years ago. And predictably, his book launch has been a complete disaster, like everything else he&#8217;s ever been associated with. The word &#8220;flop&#8221; does not begin to describe this particular publication. It sits at number 1,081 on Amazon at the moment, just a few days after its release. A day after it’s release it had not cracked the top 500. This probably translates to maybe a few hundred books sold, at most. To go along with a rating of 2.9 stars on Amazon. So it&#8217;s an unmitigated failure.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Initially, I wasn&#8217;t even aware that Mulvaney&#8217;s book had come out. But then I saw that, like Michelle Obama&#8217;s podcast, pretty much every major media publication in the country has been covering it. CBS News, for example, had a friendly sit-down with Mulvaney. They asked him a bunch of softball questions which he somehow couldn&#8217;t answer. Getting a sit-down interview on CBS to talk about your book is the kind of promotion most authors can only dream about. Conservative authors especially. But this is the sort of assistance Mulvaney, as the great trans mascot, gets. And it has not moved the needle for him even one inch.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But maybe Mulvaney&#8217;s most embarrassing media appearance came on &#8220;The View,&#8221; when he didn&#8217;t seem capable of articulating a coherent thought. Watch:</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So &#8220;Whoopi Goldberg&#8221; begins by distancing herself from Gavin Newsom, because he dared to suggest — dishonestly — that he doesn&#8217;t think men should compete against women in sports. And then she asks Mulvaney about his thoughts on the topic, and it turns out that he has no thoughts. He can&#8217;t defend the idea of men competing against women, because it makes no sense. So instead, he defers to someone named &#8220;Schuyler&#8221; who he says is a &#8220;trans athlete.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From what I can tell, Schuyler was a top-performing female swimmer at Harvard. Then she decided during a &#8220;gap year&#8221; that she&#8217;s really a man, so she swam with the men. And in that capacity, she went from a record-breaking swimmer to one of the worst athletes on the team. Somehow this is supposed to be proof of something, I guess. If you ask Schuyler, it&#8217;s proof that men don&#8217;t have any advantages over women in sports, even though Schuyler herself is living proof that the opposite is true.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But as the interview continued, Whoopi offered her own assessment of the situation, in an attempt to pick up the slack for Mulvaney. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What Whoopi pretends not to understand is that no one&#8217;s &#8220;assuming&#8221; that women are weaker. We know that it&#8217;s true. It&#8217;s true in every relevant respect. This is why high school boys can defeat the best women&#8217;s soccer team on the planet. It&#8217;s why women don&#8217;t play in the NFL. And it&#8217;s why no one is watching &#8220;The View&#8221; anymore, or buying Dylan Mulvaney&#8217;s book, or listening to Michelle Obama&#8217;s podcast. People are tired of being lied to, in the name of a political ideology that becomes more discredited by the day.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We could add to this list the total failure of Meghan Markel’s Netflix show, and her Spotify podcast that was just canceled. These are all people — all leftists — who have been heavily promoted by the media and Hollywood. They get the kind of mainstream exposure that nobody on the Right has ever gotten or will ever get. And yet the audience doesn’t care. They can’t sell books or a podcast. The public is totally disinterested.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In fact, just about the only success the Left has had lately is with Gavin Newsom&#8217;s new podcast. That&#8217;s actually doing fairly well. But it&#8217;s only doing well because his guests are all Republicans. If Gavin Newsom were doing a solo show, or talking to other Leftists, it would do about as well as &#8220;IMO.&#8221; In other words, the Left has the same problem culturally that they have politically. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">They have no stars. No leaders in the culture or on the political scene. There&#8217;s a reason nearly all of the most popular political podcasts are right-wing. No matter how aggressively the Left tries to force demented actors and disingenuous politicians and incoherent ideologies on the public, it’s just not working. They can shove all of these people in our face, but what they’re discovering is that they can’t make us care.</span></p>

<p>Whoopi Goldberg used an appearance by trans-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney on Monday to defend biological men invading women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; athletics and private spaces.</p>
<p>Goldberg and her cohosts on ABC News&#8217; &#8220;The View&#8221; invited Mulvaney, a biological male who skyrocketed to Insta-fame by documenting his transition into a parody of a teenage girl, to discuss his book about becoming said parody. Mulvaney added insult to injury, invading women&#8217;s spaces once again by releasing the book on International Women&#8217;s Day.</p>
<p>Goldberg and her cohosts <a href="https://x.com/NickFondacaro/status/1899148581061251430">raved over Mulvaney anyway during Monday&#8217;s broadcast</a>.</p>
<p>Cohost Ana Navarro mentioned one anecdote regarding a biological woman who identified as transgender and competed against males, suggesting that somehow made the hundreds of trans-identifying males taking medals, awards, scholarships, and roster spots from women acceptable.</p>
<p>&#8220;Well, I think part of the problem that the trans community is facing, and it&#8217;s the same problem that women face, is if you don&#8217;t know anything about our bodies, you don&#8217;t know how it works,&#8221; Goldberg claimed, immediately affirming trans-identifying men as no different from women.</p>
<p>&#8220;So when you come in and say, &#8216;These men — these are men, you know, competing against women,&#8217; you&#8217;re assuming that the women are weak and just can&#8217;t do anything except be here,&#8221; she continued in mocking tones. &#8220;Have you seen female athletes? They know what they&#8217;re doing.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;So I&#8217;m not sure what&#8217;s going on or why this is an issue. The same for me is when people say oh, you know, &#8216;I don&#8217;t know how I feel about you.&#8217; You do. God doesn&#8217;t make mistakes,&#8221; Goldberg asserted, despite the fact that the idea that people can be born the &#8220;wrong&#8221; gender is predicated on the possibility of God making mistakes.</p>
<p>&#8220;The challenge is not to the trans people, it&#8217;s to the people who are not trans. That&#8217;s what God is looking at to see how you treat people,&#8221; she insisted. &#8220;That&#8217;s what — that&#8217;s what is happening.&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The wait for the seven-floor elevator ride was taking longer than usual. Anheuser-Busch had recently moved its sales and marketing team from St. Louis to New York City, and more and more people were crammed into the glitzy new office. One of the elevators was broken, and a mob was waiting in the lobby. I decided to take the stairs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I was on my way to meet Brendan Whitworth, the North American CEO of Anheuser-Busch. The meeting was critical. We had an opportunity for a partnership that could breathe new life into a company that had entered something of a midlife crisis. I’d crunched the numbers. The capital outlay would be negligible, but the profits could be immense. Anheuser-Busch, where I was President of U.S. Sales &amp; Distribution, could make millions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As I rounded the corner from the stairwell to Brendan’s desk, the office décor suddenly struck me with new meaning. A turn-of-the-century advertisement hawking Anheuser-Busch’s 10-cent Faust beers hung on an iron-textured wall. The rare visual indulgence among what was otherwise an efficient, modern, glass-walled space. Nearby, an oil painting of a bottle of Budweiser rested in an oversized gilded frame, just barely missing the exposed pipes in the ceiling above. It was the perfect juxtaposition of the old and new. The vintage and modern. Even the lighting was marked by contrast. Naked industrial Edison bulbs hung from the ceiling aside sculptures made from dangling Bud Light bottles that looked like they might have been enjoyed at a backyard barbecue the weekend before. The ways of the old guard and the new.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The company had gone through many big transitions. From generations of ownership by the famed Busch family to the takeover by the unstoppable global beer conglomerate InBev. From opulence and Clydesdales to efficiency and zero-based budgeting. From Saint Louis to New York. Somehow, all of it was captured on my way to Brendan’s desk. This could be a turning point, too: Anheuser-Busch could go from a storied brewery whose brands were getting a little flat to something modern, something of-the-moment, something more.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The partnership wasn’t without its risks, of course. The proposed partner was controversial—polarizing even—in some quarters. Some of our customers might be turned off. There might even be boycotts, though I thought the risk was extremely low.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But the upside was huge. It was an expansion opportunity, a chance to introduce ourselves to a new community. To make an impact, in a way that aligned with our mission to create a future with more cheers. We could start out small, see how it went, and hopefully grow our relationship over time. Our partner’s existing fans would grow to become our fans, and vice versa. A partnership to expand our audience, to appeal to a younger, more contemporary crowd.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I made my pitch. The CEO wasn’t convinced. Neither was Legal.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Denied,” Anheuser-Busch’s Legal &amp; External Affairs Chief, Cesar Vargas, decried. “The reputational risks are simply too high.” Brendan didn’t push back. The partnership was killed on the spot.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You might think I’m describing a conversation in which Bud Light decided not to pursue its ill-fated marketing partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney. But I’m not. I’m describing a very real conversation about a different partnership: a proposed distribution </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">partnership with Black Rifle Coffee Company in 2022.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you haven’t heard, Black Rifle Coffee’s mission is to serve coffee and culture to people who love America. For many customers, it’s the American heartland alternative to Starbucks. Its founder, a former U.S. Army Green Beret, was fed up with the way that Starbucks seemingly caters to the coastal, latte-loving elites. How it pledges to hire refugees over American citizens and promotes progressive politics. Black Rifle would be different. It would be pro-veteran, pro–first responder, pro-America. Its name is a reference to the black training rifle issued to troops at boot camp. It hires veterans and military spouses. It hosts archery tournaments for disabled vets. For a time, the founder let one of his down-on-his-luck former military colleagues crash in a trailer on the office grounds. It is a brand for someone who wants a drink that respects freedom and the people who fight for it, that doesn’t hold rural and blue-collar workers in contempt.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The company’s coffee, by the way, is also quite good.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The combination of strong product and targeted marketing was proving explosive. In 2019, Black Rifle sold $82 million worth of coffee. By year end 2021, that figure had ballooned to $233 million. The company had opened a handful of brick-and-mortar coffee shops where baristas slung handcrafted drinks with colorful names like a “camo latte” with Irish cream and mint and what I presume must be a highly caffeinated beverage called only “jet fuel.” But the real growth potential was in selling ready-to-drink cans and bagged coffee through retail channels. In certain markets, Black Rifle was already on the shelves at Walmart, Publix, 7-Eleven, Sam’s Club, and more. But it wanted to expand.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That’s where Anheuser-Busch could come in. Since the end of Prohibition, Anheuser-Busch has invested hundreds of millions of dollars building out a world-class distribution network. Hundreds of wholesalers already managed routes to deliver Budweiser, Bud Light, Busch, Michelob Ultra, Stella Artois, and other Anheuser-Busch brands to these very same grocers, convenience stores, and retail outlets. They also distributed non–Anheuser-Busch brands like energy drinks, waters, and teas.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It would be a match made in heaven: Anheuser-Busch could distribute Black Rifle Coffee’s coffee cans on the same trucks that carried Bud Light. Black Rifle Coffee wouldn’t have to set up its own logistics chain, and Anheuser-Busch could grow its revenue.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But in January 2022, Anheuser-Busch’s top brass didn’t see it that way. Black Rifle Coffee may have been beloved by veterans and the Fox News crowd, but what would the New York City illuminati think of Brendan when news of the partnership spread at cocktail hours and dinner parties? Of course, they didn’t frame it that way. Instead, they invoked the mantra of “reputational risk” as though Anheuser-Busch’s customers would suddenly revolt if they knew that the truck that carried their beer to the store had also carried Black Rifle Coffee. &#8230;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">At that moment, I knew that the company where I had spent eleven years had changed. And not for the better. Anheuser-Busch’s executives weren’t evaluating a partnership that could reach new customers and increase shareholder value, they were concerned because Black Rifle Coffee didn’t jive with their personal values and those held by their progressive stakeholders. They had lost touch with Anheuser-Busch’s brand. With its mission. With its consumers. And that’s what set the company up for a much bigger, much more public failure nearly a year later.</span></p>

<p>Meena Harris posted to Instagram Friday that she is “producing partner” for Mulvaney’s “One woman show F*GHAG,” which is opening next week and is “recommended for mature audiences.”</p>

<p>Mulvaney is man who built an Instagram following exploring “womanhood” and whose partnership with Bud Light cost the beer brand more than <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bud-lights-parent-company-lost-over-1-billion-in-revenue-after-dylan-mulvaney-partnership-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$1 billion</a> in revenue.</p>
<p>The younger Harris has become an Instagram influencer in her own right, boasting nearly 700,000 followers—a following that White House officials have fretted was built partly by cashing in on her famous aunt.</p>
<p>Days after Biden took office in 2021, White House lawyers were furious at Meena, saying her “Behavior needs to change,” the <a href="https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2021-02-11/meena-branding-business-kamala-harris-niece" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LA Times</a> reported.</p>
<p>Meena wrote a childrens&#8217; book called <em>Kamala and Maya’s Big Idea</em>, as well as another book, called <em>Ambitious Girl, </em>which was released hours before Harris was sworn in as the first female vice president.</p>
<p>She also founded a clothing line called Phenomenal, which sold a sweatshirt that said “Vice President Aunty.”</p>
<p>After the 2020 election, the White House reportedly instructed Meena not to produce any products using Kamala’s name or likeness, and said the book and sweatshirt ran afoul of ethics rules, the Times wrote.</p>
<p>“But even after the briefing with ethics lawyers, Meena flew to the inauguration on a private plane with a Biden donor and posted about the trip on Instagram, which was first reported by Politico. She launched a production company that produced a video with a political group to celebrate her aunt. And she collaborated on special-edition Beats by Dre headphones that used a slogan popularized by Kamala Harris,” the Times reported said.</p>
<p>Meena also wrote <a href="https://www.amazon.com/stores/Meena-Harris/author/B085WB4F75?ref=ap_rdr&amp;isDramIntegrated=true&amp;shoppingPortalEnabled=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The Truth about Mrs. Claus,”</a> a children&#8217;s book that suggests Santa Claus’s wife is black.</p>
<p>Harris insiders have griped anonymously to media that the Biden administration was zealous in applying ethics rules to Harris’s family while looking the other way at the activities of President Joe Biden’s son and brother.</p>

<p>The video is based on Mulvaney&#8217;s &#8220;Days of Girlhood&#8221; social media series, which brought him into the public eye two years ago.</p>

<p>The pop song goes through the days of the week in a &#8220;girl&#8217;s&#8221; life — on Monday she can&#8217;t get out of bed, Tuesday she picks up prescription medications, Wednesday she has retail therapy, Thursday she does the walk of shame and &#8220;didn&#8217;t even know his name,&#8221; Friday she overspends, Saturday she flirt with drinks, and Sunday she has a breakdown in the bath.</p>
<p>&#8220;Calling women of all ages. Girls like me gotta learn the basics,&#8221; Mulvaney sings in the nearly four-minute video.</p>
<p>&#8220;Boys on the dance floor, it&#8217;s time to clear. The patriarchy&#8217;s over. You can hold our beer!&#8221; Mulvaney sings in a possible reference to the Bud Light fiasco.</p>
<p>Bud Light&#8217;s collaboration with Mulvaney last year sparked a boycott from customers. The beer brand&#8217;s parent company may have <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/03/business/anheuser-busch-revenue-bud-light-intl-hnk/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lost</a> as much as $1.4 billion in sales in the aftermath.</p>
<p>The backlash to the music video was immediate, with some critics saying the song promoted sexist stereotypes of women.</p>
<p>&#8220;Dylan Mulvaney just released a music video on how to&#8230; you guessed it&#8230; be a girl,&#8221; Jaimee Michell, founder of Gays Against Groomers, posted on X.</p>
<p>&#8220;Back up ladies, let a real man tell you what a woman is,&#8221; posted Libby Emmons, editor-in-chief of The Post Millennial.</p>
<p>&#8220;Every part of &#8216;girlhood&#8217; that Dylan Mulvaney imitates is an offensive stereotype,&#8221; posted Blaze TV host Lauren Chen. &#8220;Stupidity, promiscuity, emotional instability, materialism.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The craziest part of Dylan Mulvaney’s new music video is even after hormones and surgery, he still looks like a total dude. Just an unhealthy one wearing girl clothes,&#8221; posted conservative podcast host Liz Wheeler.</p>
<p>Mulvaney also <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C4bXlSovRpn/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shared</a> a video on himself on Instagram saying that the theme of his past year, his second year of &#8220;girlhood,&#8221; was &#8220;pain.&#8221;</p>
<p>“Two years of publicly transitioning as a woman,” he said, “or two years of being your worst nightmare, whichever way you see it. But I see it as a win.”</p>

<p>Also this week, Mulvaney <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/14/business/dylan-mulvaney-says-she-tried-to-fix-the-bud-light-boycott/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed</a> at an event in Austin that he had tried to &#8220;fix&#8221; the Bud Light situation by pitching a “Western commercial” to the brand, where a cowboy and a trans-identifying person share a beer.</p>
<p>However, the company did not bite.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Isn&#8217;t womens day for women? Lol just another case of some.. creep male trying to take one more thing from women,” one commenter shared on Instagram.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;This is so degrading to REAL women,” a second account commented.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Why&#8217;s Dylan representing. He&#8217;s &#8216;NOT&#8217; a woman. What an insult to us &#8216;REAL&#8217; women. Quit invading our territory,” a third agreed.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, has been an outspoken advocate for </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lgbtq"><span style="font-weight: 400;">LGBTQ</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> people for years. During a 2017 interview with Out Magazine, she </span><a href="https://www.out.com/entertainment/2009/08/09/lady-vamp"><span style="font-weight: 400;">said</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, &#8220;When I started in the mainstream it was the gays that lifted me up. I committed myself to them and they committed themselves to me, and because of the gay community I&#8217;m where I am today.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I very much want to inject gay culture into the mainstream,&#8221; the “Bad Romance” singer added. &#8220;It&#8217;s not an underground tool for me. It&#8217;s my whole life. So I always sort of joke the real motivation is to just turn the world gay.&#8221;</span></p>

<p>Doritos Spain is facing backlash for partnering with a trans-identifying man who <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/doritos-spain-faces-backlash-transgender-brand-ambassadors-resurfaced-tweets-1875763">reportedly</a> posted sexual comments about children in the past.</p>
<p>Over the weekend, Samantha Hudson, a trans-identifying man and social media influencer, appeared in a 50-second Instagram promo called &#8220;Crunch Talks&#8221; for Doritos Spain, which falls under PepsiCo Spain.</p>
<p>&#8220;Being perfect is not easy, but you end up getting used to it,&#8221; Hudson says in the spot, according to a translation.</p>

<p>By Monday, however, Newsweek reported that several jarring sexual posts about children that Hudson allegedly posted resurfaced, sparking outrage online.</p>
<p>&#8220;I want to do thuggish things [to] a 12-year-old girl,&#8221; Hudson allegedly posted on X several years ago, adding a description of an extreme sexual crime against a child.</p>
<p>Hudson, 24, was <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/doritos-spain-faces-backlash-transgender-brand-ambassadors-resurfaced-tweets-1875763" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> 15 when he allegedly made that post.</p>
<p>&#8220;In the middle of the street in Mallorca in panties and screaming that I&#8217;m a nymphomaniac in front of a super beautiful 8-year-old girl,&#8221; Hudson allegedly wrote in another post.</p>
<p>Hudson also appears to have previously said that he wants to destroy the traditional nuclear family.</p>
<p>&#8220;I advocate for the destruction and for the annihilation of the traditional, monogamous, nuclear family,&#8221; Hudson said in a video posted to X by several social media users.</p>
<p>&#8220;Not that I&#8217;m going to beat up my parents,&#8221; he added to laughter from an audience.</p>
<p>In yet another X post, Hudson allegedly said that he hates women who are rape victims.</p>
<p>&#8220;I hate women who are victims of rape and who turn to self-help centers to overcome their trauma. k fat wh****,&#8221; Hudson wrote.</p>

<p>A Doritos Spain spokesperson <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/boycottdoritos-spanish-trans-influencer-samantha-hudson-1234981041/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Rolling Stone that the company had launched a campaign with Hudson on Sunday before they were aware of his previous comments.</p>
<p>On Monday, after the company became aware of his comments, the spokesperson said the Instagram video was removed. The campaign&#8217;s removal and Hudson&#8217;s termination was due to Hudson&#8217;s history of controversial comments, not his gender identity, the spokesperson <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/boycottdoritos-spanish-trans-influencer-samantha-hudson-1234981041/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.</p>
<p>Hudson himself previously attempted to explain away his old posts when they came to light after he became a minor celebrity.</p>
<p>“Some tweets that I posted in 2015 are resurfacing and honestly I don’t know what to say, I don’t remember having written such barbarities,” he <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/boycottdoritos-spanish-trans-influencer-samantha-hudson-1234981041/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, according to a<em> </em>translation of his posts. “At that time I dedicated myself to saying nonsense, the heavier the better, because I thought that ‘dark humor’ was funny.”</p>
<p>The backlash over Doritos Spain&#8217;s decision to partner with Hudson echoes the reaction in the U.S. to Bud Light collaborating with trans-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney last year.</p>

<p>Though the San Francisco 49ers came up short at Super Bowl LVIII, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 25-22, their defeat on Feb. 11 pales in comparison to the one suffered by Bud Light during the weeks surrounding the big game.</p>
<p>This year&#8217;s Super Bowl achieved record viewership numbers, but beer sales declined 5.3% overall for the two weeks ending on Feb. 17 compared to the same period in 2023, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/retail/bud-light-missed-out-on-the-super-bowl-party-a5387584" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to data compiled by Bum Williams Consulting and reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). Bud Light sales alone plunged a catastrophic 30.1% compared to last year. Its sister brands Budweiser, Busch Light, and Michelob Ultra fared little better, experiencing drops of 17.7%, 7.2%, and 3.1%, respectively.</p>
<p>The brand experienced disastrous sales numbers after the Super Bowl despite a massive ad campaign during the game itself, featuring NFL legend Peyton Manning and musician Post Malone, the WSJ noted.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, rival brands Miller Lite and Coors Lite (both owned by parent company Molson-Coors) cashed in, with the latter seeing a nearly 10% increase in sales while the former saw a more modest 5% bump.</p>
<p>Modelo Especial also saw a 6.9% increase in sales and continued its streak as the nation&#8217;s favorite beer since it dethroned Bud Light back in May. Modelo as well as Corona are owned by the same company that owns Bud Light, but the U.S. distribution rights are owned by the Chicago-based Constellation Brands as a result of an antitrust lawsuit in 2013.</p>
<p>That Super Bowl slump isn&#8217;t even the latest bad news for Bud Light. In fact, it&#8217;s been a rough year for the formerly beloved beer brand after its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, decided to partner with trans-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney in the spring of 2023.</p>
<p>According to the fourth quarter earnings report that came out Thursday, AB InBev (the company that owns Anheuser-Busch) lost <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/29/business/bud-light-boycott-ab-inbev-sales/index.html">up to $1.4 billion</a> last year due to the firestorm of controversy that surrounded its Mulvaney partnership. The company identified the U.S. market in particular as the source of the massive loss, claiming its growth “was constrained  by the performance of our US business.”</p>
<p>“Revenue declined by 17.3% with sales-to-retailers (STRs) down by 12.1%, primarily due to the volume decline of Bud Light. Sales-to-wholesalers (STWs) declined by 16.1% as shipments lagged stronger depletions in December,” the company’s report said.</p>

<p>AB InBev CEO Michel Doukeris told investors that the company was recovering from its losses, but only at a glacial pace — about 0.1 to 0.2 percentage points every 3 to 4 weeks. From May 2023 to February 2024, Bud Light had regained only 1.2 points of its lost market share, according to CNN.</p>
<p>Mulvaney had first promoted Bud Light in a video of himself drinking the beverage in a bathtub on Feb. 11, 2023, but the backlash didn&#8217;t truly erupt until Mulvaney posted a second video for March Madness.</p>
<p>In the April 1 video, Mulvaney, infamous for a series of videos chronicling his transition called “Days of Girlhood,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/from-dylan-mulvaney-tanking-bud-light-to-the-downfall-of-disney-the-biggest-cultural-shifts-of-2023">showed off</a> a can of the light beer with his face on it. A few days later, Bud Light confirmed that it had indeed signed a brand partnership deal with Mulvaney in an effort to “authentically connect with audiences.”</p>
<p>Bud Light tried to excuse the partnership as just one of dozens it maintains with influencers around the world and noted that the Mulvaney-themed can was not for sale to the general public, but the firestorm had already been unleashed. Almost overnight, a beer brand widely regarded as a blue-collar American beverage became anathema among conservatives.</p>
<p>In the first week of the controversy, Bud Light sales <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/bud-light-sales-decline-dylan-mulvaney-transgender-boycott-1796451" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decreased</a> 11%, and its stock <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2023/05/31/anheuser-busch-stock-enters-bear-territory-amid-anti-trans-bud-light-backlash/?sh=11c6283e1bfe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plunged</a> 20% by the beginning of June, losing Anheuser-Busch billions in market value. Also in June, Bud Light <a href="https://thehill.com/business/4050296-bud-light-falls-from-no-1-us-sales-spot-for-first-time-in-more-than-20-years/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lost</a> its place as the best-selling beer in America to Modelo Especial. Anheuser-Busch’s overall U.S. revenue was down 10.5% in the 2nd quarter of 2023 (April-June) compared to the same period in 2022, and the company’s sales to U.S. retailers fell 14% by <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12369087/Anheuser-Busch-lost-staggering-395-MILLION-sales-plunged-14-year-Bud-Lights-partnership-transgender-influencer-Dylan-Mulvaney.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">early August</a>. The company lost nearly $400 million <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/03/business/anheuser-busch-revenue-bud-light-intl-hnk/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in revenue</a> during the 2nd quarter alone.</p>
<p>The 3rd quarter (July-September) of 2023 was even worse for the company, which reported a 13.5% drop in revenue per 100 liters, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/31/investing/bud-light-anheuser-busch-earnings/index.html">according</a> to CNN, while sales to American retailers decreased 17% in the same period.</p>
<p>In response to the backlash, the beer industry&#8217;s self-regulating body, the Beer Institute, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/one-year-later-how-bud-lights-dylan-mulvaney-fiasco-pushed-beer-industry-to-rewrite-its-ad-standards">revised</a> its ad standards and added new language regarding brewers&#8217; partnerships with social media influencers. Under the new standards, Mulvaney would not be an acceptable partner for a beer company because of the high percentage of his audience that is under the legal drinking age.</p>
<p>Prior to its Super Bowl LVIII ad campaign, Bud Light <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bud-light-budweiser-release-camo-harley-davidson-limited-edition-cans-as-sales-continue-to-plummet">released</a> patriotic-themed ads that emphasized the company&#8217;s American roots and even released camo and Harley Davidson cans to try to win back disgruntled consumers, to no avail. Anheuser-Busch&#8217;s CEO, Brendan Whitworth, was roundly criticized for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/anheuser-busch-ceo-breaks-long-silence-amid-dylan-mulvaney-pr-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a statement</a> he made two weeks after the controversy began that failed to make mention of Mulvaney, transgenderism — or offer an apology to offended customers.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s been a rough year for Bud Light, and despite the brand&#8217;s best efforts it hasn&#8217;t been able to recapture its old market share or mollify the anger of conservative customers. The Super Bowl weekend, instead of the nice boost in sales it usually represents, instead crowned nearly a year of financial disaster for Anheuser-Busch.</p>
<p>Bud Light has tried everything from celebrity cameos to pandering, nostalgia-laden commercials to practically giving away free beer, and it has so far failed to bring people back to what was once America&#8217;s favorite beer. Without a genuine redress of grievances from the executives at Bud Light, the brand may not see the end of this long, financially painful road in 2024.</p>

Our beer market share has seen continued gradual improvement since May through the end of December. <p>It was one year ago, on February 11, 2023, that Dylan Mulvaney, the transgender-identifying social media influencer, posted a video of himself drinking Bud Light in a bathtub — paid promotion that permanently altered not only Bud Light’s reputation, but now also the ad standards for the entire beer industry.</p>
<p>While Bud Light dealt with the public outcry and a nationwide boycott over its partnership with Mulvaney, it fought a less high-profile legal battle over whether the promotion of beer by Mulvaney — who often presents on social media as an entertainer for kids — was compliant with industry standards that ban marketing alcohol to minors.</p>
<p>U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), both members of the Commerce Committee, wrote a letter on May 17, 2023, that sparked a <a href="https://www.beerinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/CCRB-Dylan-Mulvaney-Complaint-Packet-with-Decisions-7.18.23.pdf">formal review</a> by the beer industry’s self-regulating body, the Beer Institute, into whether Bud Light was targeting minors through its ads with Mulvaney.</p>

The company first reviewed the possibility of hiring Mulvaney in December 2022 and went on to pay him a reported <a href="https://www.louderwithcrowder.com/dylan-mulvaney-bud-light-payout" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$185,000</a> for the two posts.</p>
<p>The senators in their letter state that Mulvaney was brought on as part of Bud Light’s strategy to “<a href="https://nypost.com/2023/04/10/bud-lights-marketing-vp-was-inspired-to-update-fratty-out-of-touch-branding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attract young drinkers</a>” and pointed to his several posts aimed at children, including <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@dylanmulvaney/video/7212043896430415147?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one</a> in March, right in the middle of his two posts for Bud Light, in which he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-activist-dylan-mulvaney-dressed-as-6-year-old-book-character-eloise-sparks-big-reaction-on-twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posed as a 6-year-old children’s book character</a> named Eloise.</p>

<p>The charge was reviewed by the Beer Institute’s “Code Compliance Review Board,” which in a July decision found that Bud Light did not violate its Advertising and Marketing Code. But just two months later that code was quietly revised — the <a href="https://www.beerinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Beer-Institute-Advertising-and-Marketing-Code-Updated-Sept2023.pdf">Advertising and Marketing Code</a> that beer companies are required to adhere to now includes new language on social media influencers that would appear to forbid any brewer from working with Mulvaney.</p>
<p>The guidelines also appear to mandate that Bud Light go back and reassess the Mulvaney posts based on the new standards.</p>
<p>The updated standards state that a brewer must conduct “after-the-fact audits” at least twice a year of all its influencer placements. “If a Brewer learns that an advertising placement did not meet the Code’s audience demographic standard,” the Beer Institute states, recommended steps include having the post removed.</p>
<p>The standards at the time of the initial review made no mention of influencers, and Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch, used that to say it wasn’t responsible for reviewing influencer posts, and didn’t with Mulvaney. The company told the review board that influencer campaigns are “unique” because the content is “not controlled by the brewer,” but rather the “influencers develop their own content and post it on their own page.”</p>
<p>That’s no longer an acceptable process. The new standards, which were announced in a September 28, 2023, <a href="https://www.beerinstitute.org/press-releases/member-alert-beer-institute-updates-advertising-and-marketing-code/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a> but received no media attention, say that social media influencer content needs to be held to the same standard as other ads.</p>
<p>The standards were updated just weeks after Cruz urged action in an <a href="https://www.commerce.senate.gov/services/files/7A0CBD95-24A3-4A6C-B299-490F36D90564" target="_blank" rel="noopener">August 15 letter</a> in which he bemoaned the lack of standards for social media posts. “It is concerning, for example, that brewers do not prescreen branded content by social media influencers,” Cruz wrote, noting Bud Light’s initial defense that influencer posts were “unique.”</p>
<p>The guidelines state that social media posts can only be placed where at least 73.8% of the audience is of legal drinking age — the same standard as for traditional advertisements — and that “age-gating measures” must be used if available.</p>
<p>Not only do independent analyses of Mulvaney’s audience call into question whether his audience is sufficiently composed of drinking-aged adults, but there is no indication that Mulvaney is using Instagram’s <a href="https://help.instagram.com/316932422966736" target="_blank" rel="noopener">age restriction tools</a>. The Daily Wire signed up for an Instagram account stating that it was underage and was able to access his Bud Light promotion.</p>
<p>While Anheuser-Busch stated in its initial defense of the Mulvaney posts that it conducted an “audience composition study” and found that roughly 80% of his audience was 21 or older, its review appears to be insufficient. The company conducted a single analysis when it first engaged with Mulvaney in December 2022 and used it to justify both posts in the coming months.</p>

Beer companies are required, however, to continually analyze the audience of their influencers. If Bud Light had, it would have likely learned that Mulvaney wasn&#8217;t an acceptable option.</p>
<p>An <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2024/02/modash-report-dylanmulvaney-Feb-11-2024.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">independent analysis conducted</a> on the publication date of this story by The Daily Wire using Modash, a leading influencer analysis products, found that over half of Mulvaney’s followers are 24 or under — 7.95% are aged 13-17, and 45.32% are aged 18-24. It is impossible to know the exact composition of his followers based on Instagram’s data because the cutoff date for alcohol, 21 years old, is right in the middle of the 18-24 segment. But if just half of the 18-24 portion were under 21, then Mulvaney would fall below the acceptable threshold.</p>
<p>Cruz, in his August letter that appears to have prompted the updated standards, cast serious doubt about assumptions made by Bud Light in its audience review. One complaint stated by the Texas senator is that Bud Light guessed the proportion of 18-24-year-olds that were actually over 21 based on an assumption that users are evenly distributed by age — it only counts 42% of that group as underage — even though there is no evidence to suggest that’s the case.</p>
<p>It’s likely the case that there are far more young people on Instagram than its data suggests. The social media platform relies on the honesty of users to determine their age, with little to no age verification tools. <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/instagram-tests-child-age-verification-but-falls-short-of-full-id-checks-11655953547" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Surveys show</a> that minors regularly lie about their age to obtain social media profiles. It is therefore likely that the studies overstate the number of users who are adults.</p>
<p>It is unclear whether Anheuser-Busch has conducted a single analysis of Mulvaney’s audience since its initial review before the posts, even though the new standards require it to.</p>
<p>Anheuser-Busch did not respond to a request for comment on the Mulvaney posts, and whether it has reviewed them since the updated standards were released. Mulvaney also did not respond to inquiries.</p>
<p>The Beer Institute declined to comment on whether any action has been taken regarding Mulvaney’s posts since the standards were updated, and whether any action is required.</p>
<p>“The Code Compliance Review Board, an independent review board convened by the Beer Institute, has already carefully assessed the posts and determined that there was no violation of the Beer Institute Advertising and Marketing Code,” a Beer Institute spokesman told The Daily Wire, a statement that disregards the fact that the Advertising and Marketing Code was amended after the review.</p>
<p>Cruz warned the Beer Institute in his August letter that a failure to take his concerns seriously would force him to legislate away the industry’s self-governing situation.</p>
<p>“There are currently no federal laws against advertising alcohol to minors, in part because of the beer industry’s professed commitment to self-regulation,” Cruz wrote. “As Ranking Member on the Commerce Committee, it is my duty to ensure that the Beer Institute’s private regulatory regime is working; if it is not, then our Committee may be forced to consider legislating to protect consumers, including impressionable children.”</p>
<p>Cruz made clear in his latest letter on the topic that the Beer Institute’s absolvement of Bud Light doesn’t mean his inquiries will end. The industry trade group’s <a href="https://www.beerinstitute.org/about-us/leadership/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">board of directors</a>, after all, is currently chaired by Brendan Whitworth, the CEO of Anheuser-Busch.</p>
<p>Bud Light has continued to grapple with its reputation in the year since affiliating its brand with the transgender influencer. It is reportedly using this year’s Super Bowl as an opportunity for a “<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/now/video/bud-light-plotting-brand-revival-in-new-super-bowl-ad-203908677724" target="_blank" rel="noopener">brand revival</a>.”</p>
