President Donald Trump minced no words in his response to the charges filed against Re. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) for her alleged actions during a physical confrontation between protesters and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents outside a New Jersey detention facility.
The charges against McIver stemmed from a protest — at which she was joined by fellow Reps. Bonnie Watson-Coleman (D-NJ) and Rob Menendez (D-NJ) and Demcoratic Newark Mayor Ras Baraka — outside Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey. According to the charges against her, body cam footage from the protest shows McIver physically engaging federal agents during a scuffle.
Trump was asked about the situation on Tuesday, and he made it clear that the Justice Department had his full support in pursuing the charges against McIver.

“Oh, give me a break. Did you see her?” Trump asked. “She was out of control. Those days are over. The days of woke are over. That woman — I don’t — I have no idea who she is. That woman was out of control. She was shoving federal agents, she was out of control. The days of that crap are OVER in this country. We’re gonna have law and order.”
CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings discussed the issue with several other panelists on Monday’s broadcast of “CNN NewsNight,” and when he asked whether a “non-politician” would get away with physically confronting a federal agent, host Abby Phillip responded by deflecting and attacking President Donald Trump for pardoning those involved with the January 6th riots on Capitol Hill.
“You might get a pardon,” she said pointedly.
