<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Far-left Democratic socialist and New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani will visit the White House for a high-stakes meeting with President Donald Trump on Friday.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Trump previously threatened to yank funding from the Big Apple if the 34-year-old Mamdani was elected, urging New Yorkers to back former Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo instead. On Wednesday, Trump said that Mamdani had requested a meeting. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran ‘Kwame’ Mamdani, has asked for a meeting,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “We have agreed that this meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st. Further details to follow!”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mamdani confirmed Trump’s post, </span><a href="https://abc7ny.com/post/president-trump-meet-nyc-mayor-elect-zohran-mamdani-white-house-friday/18177558/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">issuing</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> a statement that the meeting was routine and would focus on public safety and the economy. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;As is customary for an incoming mayoral administration, the Mayor-elect plans to meet with the President in Washington to discuss public safety, economic security and the affordability agenda that over one million New Yorkers voted for just two weeks ago.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Trump said on Sunday that he would be open to meeting with Mamdani, stating, “We want to see everything work out well for New York.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mamdani said that he would be “Trump-proofing” New York by resisting cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and claimed Trump was a “despot” during his Election Day victory speech. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“If we embrace this brave new course, rather than fleeing from it, we can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves,” he said. “After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump, how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mamdani has promised to open city-run grocery stores and raise the city’s minimum wage to $30 an hour by 2030. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Trump has said that New York’s economy will crumble under Mamdani’s leadership. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required, to my beloved first home, because of the fact that, as a Communist, this once great City has ZERO chance of success, or even survival!” Trump posted on Truth Social before the election. </span></p>
