President Donald Trump urged voters in New York City to back former Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo over &#8220;communist&#8221; Zohran Mamdani.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that he would rather see Cuomo elected than Mamdani, who he said would ruin the city. He added that he would only give the minimum of federal funds required by the law to NYC because the rest would be wasted by Mamdani, who is an unapologetic socialist.
“I would much rather see a Democrat, who has had a Record of Success, WIN, than a Communist with no experience and a Record of COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE,” Trump wrote. “He was nothing as an Assemblyman, ranked at the bottom of the class and, as Mayor of potentially, again, the Greatest City in the World, HE HAS NO CHANCE to bring it back to its former Glory!”
Trump said a vote for Republican Curtis Sliwa would be a waste and effectively backing Mamdani.
“We must also remember this — A vote for Curtis Sliwa (who looks much better without the beret!) is a vote for Mamdani. Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice,” he added. “You must vote for him, and hope he does a fantastic job. He is capable of it, Mamdani is not!”
Trump also noted that he would likely pull funding from NYC if Mamdani won.

An average of polls from RealClearPolling shows Mamdani getting 46.1% of the vote, Cuomo 31.8%, and Sliwa 16.3%.

President Donald Trump said that the reason he directed the United States to conduct new nuclear weapons tests was that countries like China and Russia were secretly doing the same thing. 
Trump made the comments during a wide-ranging interview with CBS News correspondent Nora O’Donnell on “60 Minutes” that was broadcast on Sunday. Just before he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping last week, Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115460423936412555">posted</a> on Truth Social that he had directed the Department of War to start testing America’s nuclear weapons. 
“You have to see how they work,” Trump said of his directive. “The reason I&#8217;m saying testing is because Russia announced that they were going to be doing a test. If you notice, North Korea&#8217;s testing constantly. Other countries are testing. We&#8217;re the only country that doesn&#8217;t test, and I don&#8217;t want to be the only country that doesn&#8217;t test.”
When O’Donnell said that countries like China and Russia hadn’t done nuclear weapons testing, Trump countered that they were doing so secretly.
“Russia&#8217;s testing nuclear weapons,” Trump said. “And China&#8217;s testing them too. You just don&#8217;t know about it.”
“Russia&#8217;s testing, and China&#8217;s testing, but they don&#8217;t talk about it. You know, we&#8217;re an open society. We&#8217;re different. We talk about it. We have to talk about it, because otherwise you people are going to report,” Trump said. “We&#8217;re going to test, because they test and others test.”
Trump then suggested that Russia and China may be testing their nuclear weapons underground. 
On Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/china-trump-nuclear-weapons-tests-60-minutes-beijing-response/">denied</a> that China was conducting nuclear weapons tests. She claimed that China has “upheld a self-defense nuclear strategy and abided by its commitment to suspend nuclear testing.”

Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Sunday that upcoming U.S. testing would involve systems checks, not nuclear detonations.
“I think the tests we’re talking about right now are system tests,” he <a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-nuclear-weapons-testing-explosions-wright-energy-a920fc10aff85243cb6895fad55b2839">said</a> during an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Briefing.” “These are not nuclear explosions. These are what we call noncritical explosions.”
Wright added that the tests would include looking at “all the other parts of a nuclear weapon to make sure they deliver the appropriate geometry and they set up the nuclear explosion.”
The last time the United States detonated a nuclear weapon was in 1992. In 1996, the United States, under President Bill Clinton, signed an international agreement not to test nuclear weapons, but the Senate voted against ratifying the treaty. The last publicly reported test of a nuclear weapon was by North Korea in 2017.

Trump Sounds Alarm: China and Russia Conducting Secret Nuke Tests

President Donald Trump said that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids carried out by his administration have not gone “far enough” because they have been hampered by &#8220;liberal judges.&#8221;
Trump, who campaigned on enacting mass deportations, defended his illegal immigration crackdown during an interview on “60 Minutes” broadcast on Sunday. When asked by CBS correspondent Norah O’Donnell about accusations of ICE tear-gassing neighborhoods and similar tactics, the president stood by his administration’s efforts. 
“I think they haven&#8217;t gone far enough because we&#8217;ve been held back by the judges, by the liberal judges that were put in by Biden and by Obama,” Trump said. 
Judges have blocked Trump&#8217;s efforts to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-rips-judiciary-after-judge-nixes-mass-deportation-plan">deport</a> suspected Venezuelan gang members under the Alien Enemies Act and <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/federal-judge-halts-trump-effort-to-expand-speedy-deportations-of-detained-migrants">efforts</a> to carry out speedy deportations.
The Trump administration has conducted ICE raids in major cities across the country that have often prompted violent reactions. Over the summer, riots broke out in Los Angeles County after federal agents started making arrests in the area. In recent weeks, ICE has been active in the Chicago area, and federal efforts have faced major protests.
Trump reiterated that he supported ICE being aggressive when asked by O&#8217;Donnell about his administration&#8217;s tactics. 
“You have to get the people out. You know, you have to look at the people. Many of them are murderers. Many of them are people that were thrown out of their countries because they were, you know, criminals,” Trump said. “Many of them are people from jails and prisons. Many of them are people from, frankly, mental institutions. I feel badly about that, but they&#8217;re released from insane asylums. You know why? Because they&#8217;re killers.”
Trump said that more than 11,000 illegal immigrant murderers had been released into the country, and that over half of those had killed multiple people. He said the deportation efforts were focusing on getting the “bad ones” out of the country.

Trump Says ICE Raids ‘Haven’t Gone Far Enough,’ Blasts Leftist Judges

With growing threats to higher education and state government, Wisconsin Republicans have a plan to put the Badger State at the forefront of combating Chinese Communist Party influence.
Five Wisconsin Republicans unveiled a series of bills this week to keep CCP influence out of state government and institutions of higher education. If the legislative package is passed, national security experts say that Wisconsin would become a state leader in combating China. 
“We can all agree and should be able to rally around the fact that we should not be supporting or doing anything to support organizations, such as the Chinese Communist Party, that seek to undermine the foundational things that make America exceptional,” Senator Patrick Testin told The Daily Wire. 
The bills would block partnerships between the University of Wisconsin system and China, prevent state agencies from contracting with companies controlled by China, ban critical telecommunication companies from using equipment manufactured by foreign adversaries, crack down on transnational repression, target illegal organ harvesting, and protect genetic data from countries like China.
The lawmakers behind the legislative package include Testin, Senator Cory Tomczyk, Representative Daniel Knodl, Representative Clint Moses, and Representative Alex Dallman.
Testin said that the CCP wants “to embed themselves in every element and sector” to “essentially extend their tentacles and their influence.”
The higher education bill would ban the University of Wisconsin from entering into “a collaboration agreement, academic partnership, or research partnership with a college or university based in China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, or Qatar,” according to a draft shared with The Daily Wire. 
There would be an exception if a federal law enforcement agency performs a national security assessment.

A recent House <a href="https://selectcommitteeontheccp.house.gov/media/press-releases/new-investigative-report-uncovers-billions-in-taxpayer-money-used-to-fund-chinese-military-apparatus">report</a> listed over a dozen Pentagon grants to the university worth tens of millions of dollars that raised concerns over links to China. The university also has relationships with <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250929185535/https://tc.seu.edu.cn/jt_en/2017/1230/c16823a206389/page.htm">Southeast University in Nanjing</a> and <a href="https://alc.wisc.edu/2019/06/18/uw-madison-celebrates-40-year-relationship-with-nanjing-university/">Nanjing University</a>, both of which have been <a href="https://www.civitas.org.uk/content/files/The-Strategic-Dependence-of-UK-Universities-on-China-.pdf">assessed</a> to have medium to high risk in terms of Chinese defense ties. 
Another bill would stop state agencies from contracting with organizations that are headquartered in certain countries, like China, or are controlled or majority-owned by the Chinese government or the CCP. 
A third bill would prohibit “telecommunications providers from purchasing, renting, leasing, obtaining, or maintaining critical telecommunications infrastructure that includes equipment manufactured by a foreign principal of a foreign adversary.”
Another bill aims to protect the genetic data of Americans. It would ban “the use of genetic software from foreign adversaries in medical and research facilities, the storage of any human genome sequencing data within the borders of a foreign adversary.”
State Rep. Clint Moses told The Daily Wire that the intent of that legislation was to ensure that genetic data was not being used for biological warfare or other “nefarious” purposes. 
Another measure part of the package would prohibit “coverage of organ transplantation and related care under health insurance policies and the Medical Assistance program if the organ is transplanted in or originates from a country known to have participated in forced organ harvesting.”
There are between 25,000 and 50,000 people in China every year whose organs are harvested against their will, according to some estimates. 
“When you start looking at what some of these countries are doing, particularly in China, where they’re getting organs for transplant usage, obviously from inmates, prisoners,” Moses said. “I think, [Americans] would find that absolutely shocking and atrocious, because it’s a humanitarian issue. It’s a crime against humanity.”
The final bill in the package would give more teeth to law enforcement in punishing those engaging in transnational repression. Other bills aiming to prevent foreign adversaries from owning land in Wisconsin and to keep Chinese software off state devices are also working their way through the legislature. 
Michael Lucci, the founder of the national security advocacy group State Armor, said that Wisconsin would become the model in the Midwest for targeting China if all of the proposals pass. He said states need to take increasingly strong action to safeguard themselves. 
“Over time, the breadth and scale of the threat has become more apparent and it has grown. It&#8217;s become clear it&#8217;s quite large,” he told The Daily Wire. “Therefore, the American response, which is both federal and state, needs to expand and become more forceful.”

Crouching Badger, Hidden Dragon: How Wisconsin Republicans Are Fighting China

A Rhode Island school is charging a mom over $100,000 to access the curriculum of a teacher who made light of the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk last month. 
Barrington Public Schools told Nicole Solas that it would cost a whopping $117,130.50 for them to comb through the class materials of teacher Benjamin Fillo, who responded to Kirk’s murder by calling him a “piece of garbage.” Solas says that the school is stonewalling her efforts to ensure that Rhode Island taxpayers are not paying for political indoctrination. 
“It&#8217;s a big slap in the face to parents who implicitly trust their kids with the public education system,” she told The Daily Wire, adding that she was concerned that Fillo’s “political positions and radical ideologies were entering the classroom.”
Solas sent in public records requests to the school district after she flagged a TikTok video showing Fillo attacking Kirk after he was shot on the campus of Utah Valley University. While Solas noted she lives in a different district, she believes that no one&#8217;s taxpayer dollars should subsidize political education. 
“This is a man who hated the LGBTQ community, who hated women&#8217;s rights, who hated democracy, who thought that he was a big man because he went to college campuses and debated college students, thought he proved how tough he was with his words that he studied ahead of time. What a piece of garbage,” Fillo said in the video.

After that video went viral, Fillo was placed on leave, and an independent investigation was launched. In the meantime, some students came forward alleging that Fillo has exhibited bias towards conservatives.
Solas then requested that the district provide her with emails sent by Fillo in September mentioning Trump and his curriculum. The district responded that the emails would cost $379.50 and the curriculum would cost $117,130.50.
“It should never cost $117,000 to see the curriculum materials of a single social studies teacher in a public school because those materials are already paid for by the taxpayer,” Solas said. “Barrington Public School District’s exorbitant fee weaponizes Rhode Island’s Access to Public Records Act to block access to public information about what students are being taught instead of simply handing over the materials free of charge.”

The Goldwater Institute provided Solas with a lawyer through its pro bono American Freedom Network to assist her in the records request. The lawyer, James McGlone, sent a letter to the school demanding that it revise its payment request or eliminate it altogether. In a letter, McGlone said that public interest in the case would likely lead to a court ordering the school to produce the requested records for free. 
Solas said that the fundamental issue at stake was that teachers should not be allowed to create a hostile environment for certain students.
“No matter what you think about Charlie Kirk, no matter what you think about Republican parents or conservatives, it doesn&#8217;t matter how bad you think they are, no one deserves to die just because of their point of view,” she said. “The impressionable minds of children in public school can&#8217;t learn from someone who doesn&#8217;t understand that basic principle.”

School Charges Mom Six Figures For Records Of Teacher Who Called Charlie Kirk ‘Garbage’

A Texas GOP official has suspended a statewide program that prioritized non-white male businesses in state contracting. 
Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock <a href="https://comptroller.texas.gov/about/media-center/news/20251028-historically-underutilized-business-certification-process-under-review-by-acting-texas-comptroller-1761686774358">took action</a> this week to suspend new approvals for companies to be certified as a Historically Underutilized Business, giving them benefits in competing for state jobs. Hancock said that the program was constitutionally questionable because of its emphasis on race. 
“In Texas, we don&#8217;t want to discriminate against anybody, and what this program does is literally discriminate against those that are white,” Hancock told The Daily Wire. “It&#8217;s just been around for a long time, and we&#8217;ve just kind of accepted it and not looked at the constitutionality of it.”
To be defined as a Historically Underutilized Business, the company must be more than 50% owned by black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Native Americans, service-disabled veterans, or women. The program has been in place since 1991. Hancock explained the requirements as “unless you’re white, you qualify.” 
Advantages of being classified as a Historically Underutilized Business include opportunities to bid for contracts from around 300 state agencies that must make a “good faith” effort to reach out to them. 
For example, the Texas Department of Agriculture has <a href="https://texasagriculture.gov/About/Contracting/Historically-Underutilized-Business-HUB">set goals</a> that aim for it to use so-called underutilized businesses for 11.2% of heavy construction jobs, 21.1% of building construction, 32.9% of special trade construction, 23.7% of professional service contracts, 26.6% of other service contracts, and 21.1% of commodities contracts. 
Currently, about 21% of Historically Underutilized Businesses participate in state contracts as prime contractors or subcontractors, receiving 11% of all state spending in total, according to the comptroller’s office. The total awards given to the businesses are over $4 billion, including $1.45 billion for women-owned businesses and $1.6 billion for Hispanic-owned businesses.

Hancock said that he was concerned about the process of verifying that one had experienced economic discrimination. 
“How do we audit that somebody was economically discriminated against?” he asked. “How do we verify the information of somebody being economically discriminated against? It&#8217;s got to be more than just skin color.”
He said that contracts should be awarded on the basis of merit, not race or ethnicity. 
The suspension of the program comes after Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order prohibiting race and sex-based preferences when awarding government benefits.
