On Monday, President Trump signed into law H.R. 724, the “Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act” (or PACT Act), which targets, among other cruel practices, the production of “animal crush videos.”
The bipartisan bill was introduced in the House by Florida Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch and Republican Rep. Vern Buchanan and promoted in the Senate by Connecticut Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Patrick J. Toomey. After passing by unanimous consent in the Senate in early November, Trump signed H.R. 724 into law Monday.
