Donald Trump Sets The Record Straight About Melania’s ‘I Don’t Care’ Jacket

On Thursday evening, President Donald Trump set the record straight about the controversial jacket First Lady Melania Trump wore when boarding a plane to go visit a migrant camp in Texas: It was a message for the “Fake News Media.”

When Melania boarded Air Force One on the way to the migrant camp, she put on a green Zara brand anorak-style jacket, which on the back said, “I Don’t Really Care, Do U?” Unsurprisingly, the jacket caused an immediate stir with the media; media members suggested the message was directed at the migrant crisis, while others slammed the first lady for, at the least, horrific optics.

In a tweet Thursday afternoon, President Trump said her statement was not about the children, but about the dishonest media, which Melania has apparently grown tired of.

“‘I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?’ written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!” the president wrote via Twitter.

Earlier in the day, the spokeswoman for Melania reacted to the media uproar but reiterated that the jacket was just a jacket and not commentary on the migrant crisis.

“It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message,” said the spokeswoman. “After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.”
