<p>Former President Donald Trump said on Monday that he spoke with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk about getting Starlink set up in areas impacted by flooding from Hurricane Helene.</p>
<p>Trump made the remarks about the efforts from Musk, who is Trump&#8217;s most powerful political ally, during an event in Valdosta, Georgia.</p>
<p>&#8220;Homes, hospitals, highways, and cars have been plunged under water,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;Entire neighborhoods have been turned into lakes. Nobody&#8217;s seen anything like it. And every family that&#8217;s been displaced here in Georgia and North Carolina, which has really been hit, we&#8217;re going there also. They don&#8217;t have communication, they don&#8217;t have anything right now.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I just spoke to Elon,&#8221; Trump continued, &#8220;I&#8217;m getting him, we want to get Starlink hooked up because they have no communication whatsoever. And Elon will always come through, and we know that. And so we&#8217;re working on that, getting them hooked up, they asked me whether or not that would be possible. We&#8217;re going to try and get the Starlink in there as soon as possible because they have no communication.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;And throughout the region, our hearts are with you, and we are going to be with you as long as you need it,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It&#8217;s called an hour of need. You&#8217;re in our prayers, and we pray to God. And throughout this long weeks, the long weeks that lay ahead, you&#8217;re going to have a lot of work, but the end result is it&#8217;s going to be good. We just wish so many people weren&#8217;t so badly hurt and in many cases, sadly, no longer with us. We love you.&#8221;</p>

Trump Says Musk Providing Starlink To Areas Impacted By Hurricane

<p>President Donald Trump signaled on Friday that the United States has no choice but to acquire Greenland from Denmark for national security reasons.</p>
<p>The president doubled down on his push for the island nation while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office — just a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Trump was dead serious about taking over the island.</p>
<p>&#8220;We need Greenland very importantly, for international security, we have to have Greenland,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s not a question of, &#8216;Do you think we can do without it?&#8217; We can&#8217;t. If you look at Greenland right now, if you look at the waterways, you have Chinese and Russian ships all over the place, and we&#8217;re not going to be able to do that. We&#8217;re not relying on Denmark or anybody else to take care of that situation.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;And we&#8217;re not talking about peace for the United States,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We&#8217;re talking about world peace. We&#8217;re talking about international security. And right now, you look at it, you have warships all over the place going through right along Greenland. We&#8217;re not going to let that happen. We cannot let that happen, or if it&#8217;s going to happen, we have to be protective of our country.&#8221;</p>
<p>The president said that &#8220;modern day weaponry&#8221; made Greenland &#8220;very important&#8221; from a strategic defense standpoint.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you notice, also some of those, you could call them roadways, they&#8217;re water roadways, but some of those areas are opening up and they&#8217;re opening up,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Ice breakers out there, they&#8217;re opening them. And by just nature, they&#8217;re opening up and they&#8217;re headed right into China, right into Russia, and we have no choice.&#8221;</p>

Trump Signals U.S. Has No Choice But To Acquire Greenland

<p>Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) was grilled during an interview on Friday for calling on Trump defense officials to resign over their use of a Signal chat group given that he never called for Biden defense officials to resign when they had major screwups.</p>
<p>Coons made the remarks on CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Squawk Box&#8221; when pressed by co-host Joe Kernen over his calls for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz to resign while he remained silent during the Biden years with regard to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.</p>
<p>&#8220;Did you call for Lloyd Austin&#8217;s resignation?&#8221; Kernen asked. &#8220;Not only did we lose 13 service members, we left $70 billion worth of equipment that fell into the hands of the Taliban. Couple of years later, he was out of pocket for two weeks and didn&#8217;t tell the White House.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Did you ask for him to resign at this point?&#8221; he pressed. &#8220;Are you actually asking for Hegseth and Waltz to resign when you didn&#8217;t ask for Lloyd Austin?&#8221;</p>
<p>Coons claimed that Austin not do anything that put United States national security at risk by getting health care treatment despite not notifying anyone about his hospitalization and surgery for cancer.</p>
<p>&#8220;What about Afghanistan? What about Afghanistan?&#8221; Kernen pressed. &#8220;Did you guys forget that? Is the statute of limitations is over for 4 years?&#8221;</p>
<p>Coons ignored the question and instead continued to talk about Austin&#8217;s surgery for cancer.</p>
<p>Kernen continued to press Coons about Afghanistan, noting that in the past, he had referred to Biden&#8217;s disastrous withdraw as a success.</p>
<p>&#8220;Afghanistan was not a success,&#8221; Kernen said.</p>
<p>Coons continued to deflect by starting to talk about the Houthis.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am not saying that the attack on the Houthis was not a success,&#8221; Coons said. &#8220;I am saying that he demonstrably violated a directive that was just shared in the Pentagon about don&#8217;t use Signal for classified information, it is not reliably secure. And one of the folks on that group chat was in Russia at the time that that information being &#8212; look, all of us use apps like WhatsApp and Signal.&#8221;</p>
<p>Kernen called out Coons for deflecting: &#8220;You&#8217;re running out the clock on Afghanistan.&#8221;</p>
<p>Coons then proceeded to blame President Donald Trump for Biden&#8217;s disaster, even though he admitted that actions that were taken under Biden&#8217;s leadership were &#8220;badly handled.&#8221;</p>
<p>When asked if he should have called for Austin to resign over the debacle, Coons responded: &#8220;I don&#8217;t know whether Lloyd Austin is the person who should have been held accountable for it, but there should have been accountability.&#8221;</p>

Chris Coons Grilled Over Hypocrisy In Calling For Resignations Of Trump Officials

<p>Liberal comedian Bill Maher said this week that he has accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump to have a private dinner at the White House because he believes it could help heal political divisions in the country.</p>
<p>Maher made the remarks during an interview with NewsNation host Chris Cuomo when asked about the response he has gotten since accepting the invite.</p>
<p>&#8220;Maybe this is a beginning to heal America,&#8221; Maher said. &#8220;Now, I don’t have some sort of complex where I think I can heal America. I can’t. Okay, let’s get that clear. I’m not going to be healing America. But if two guys who’ve been at each other for so long — I mean, it’s kind of a Nixon to China thing.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I have the credentials,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;There was nobody who was harder on Trump or more prescient about the fact that he wasn’t going to leave office voluntarily than I was. I feel like I have the credentials. But they also respect me because I’m honest about the woke train to crazy town. And I don’t shrink from that. And I’ve also lost a lot of fans for that. The woke people have left the building and I’m willing to make that sacrifice, but it does give you a certain credibility.&#8221;</p>
<p>He said that regardless of who the president is, it&#8217;s &#8220;an honor to be invited to the White House.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;And I’ve already had a couple of people who I said to them, you know, I’m just gonna take it as a backhanded compliment that you glide right past the idea that little Bill Maher from River Vale, New Jersey, just a humble kid from the suburbs was invited for a private dinner at the White House,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You glide right past that to how dare you talk to him and that you’re not impressed by it at all.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I’m impressed by it a lot,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I’m impressed the f*** out of it. I get to go to the White House and, yes, that is the structure of this dinner is just, let’s talk. Let’s talk to each other face to face. Let’s not stop shouting from 3,000 miles away, you know? So if they expect me to be leaving in a MAGA hat, they’re gonna be very disappointed, but I know they don’t. And I think it’s gonna be, you know, look, it probably will accomplish very little, but you gotta try, man. You gotta try.&#8221;</p>

<p>House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) offered Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) a seat back at the leadership table after the Trump administration withdrew her nomination for U.N. Ambassador over concerns about House Republicans&#8217; narrow majority in Congress.</p>
<p>&#8220;There is no doubt she would have served with distinction as our ambassador to the United Nations, but we are grateful for her willingness to sacrifice that position and remain in Congress to help us save the country,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;I will invite her to return to the leadership table immediately.&#8221;</p>
<p>He said that Stefanik agreeing to give up her nomination for the sake of helping the team showed that she was a &#8220;devoted patriot&#8221; and &#8220;deeply devoted to her country and fully committed to see President Trump’s agenda succeed in Congress.&#8221;</p>

Mike Johnson Welcomes Elise Stefanik Back Into House Leadership

<p>Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he believes that President Donald Trump is very serious about expanding America&#8217;s territorial boundaries by acquiring Greenland.</p>
<p>Putin made the remarks during the 6th International Arctic Forum in Murmansk where he bemoaned Western nations increasingly competing in the Arctic region.</p>
<p>&#8220;The role and importance of the Arctic for Russia and for the entire world are obviously growing,&#8221; Putin said. &#8220;Regrettably, the geopolitical competition and fighting for positions in this region are also escalating.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Suffice it to say about the plans of the United States to annex Greenland, as everyone is aware,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But you know, it can surprise someone only at first glance. It is a profound mistake to treat it as some preposterous talk by the new U.S. administration. Nothing of the sort.&#8221;</p>
<p>Putin noted that the idea has been talked about in the United States dating back well over a hundred years.</p>
<p>&#8220;In short, the United States has serious plans regarding Greenland,&#8221; he said. &#8220;These plans have long historical roots, as I have just mentioned, and it is obvious that the United States will continue to consistently advance its geo-strategic, military-political and economic interests in the Arctic.&#8221;</p>

Putin: Trump Has ‘Serious Plans Regarding Greenland’

<p>Secretary of State Marco Rubio weighed in Thursday on a Turkish visa student who was arrested by federal immigration authorities this week, which went viral after it was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.</p>
<p>Rubio made the remarks during a joint press conference in Georgetown, Guyana, with Guyanese President Irfaan Ali.</p>
<p>&#8220;We revoked her visa. It’s an F1 visa,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We revoked it, and here’s why – and I’ll say it again; I’ve said it everywhere. Let me be abundantly clear. If you go apply for a visa right now anywhere in the world – let me just send this message out – if you apply for a visa to enter the United States and be a student and you tell us that the reason why you’re coming to the United States is not just because you want to write op-eds, but because you want to participate in movements that are involved in doing things like vandalizing universities, harassing students, taking over buildings, creating a ruckus, we’re not going to give you a visa.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;If you lie to us and get a visa and then enter the United States and with that visa, participate in that sort of activity, we’re going to take away your visa,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Now, once you’ve lost your visa, you’re no longer legally in the United States, and we have a right, like every country in the world has a right, to remove you from our country. So it’s just that simple.&#8221;</p>
<p>Rubio said that it was &#8220;crazy&#8221; and &#8220;stupid&#8221; for any country to let people come in as visitors and cause disturbances at their universities.</p>
<p>&#8220;And if we’ve given you a visa and then you decide to do that, we’re going to take it away,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I encourage every country to do that, by the way, because I think it’s crazy to invite students into your country that are coming onto your campus and destabilizing it. We’re just not going to have it. So we’ll revoke your visa; and once your visa is revoked, you’re illegally in the country and you have to leave. Every country in the world has a right to decide who comes in as a visitor and who doesn’t.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;If you invite me into your home because you say, &#8216;I want to come to your house for dinner,&#8217; and I go to your house and I start putting mud on your couch and spray-painting your kitchen, I bet you you’re going to kick me out,&#8221; he concluded. &#8220;Well, we’re going to do the same thing if you come into the United States as a visitor and create a ruckus for us. We don’t want it. We don’t want it in our country. Go back and do it in your country, but you’re not going to do it in our country.&#8221;</p>
