Ben Shapiro weighed in on Sunday on the lasting legacy of conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated just over a week earlier during a campus event at Utah Valley University.
The Daily Wire editor emeritus spoke with Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy about Kirk just hours ahead of a massive memorial service that was set to take place in Kirk&#8217;s home state of Arizona, and he said that the way Kirk had engaged with people was something that would stand the test of time.

&#8220;A year from now, what will Charlie Kirk&#8217;s legacy be?&#8221; Doocy asked.
&#8220;I think Charlie&#8217;s legacy in will be death the same as it was in life but significantly, significantly larger,&#8221; Shapiro began. &#8220;And that will be the thought of him on campuses, having open, robust discussions, convincing people, because Charlie was about convincing people that the conservative way of thinking, the Biblical way of thinking, was correct, and he spent his life pursuing that.&#8221;
&#8220;He also happened to be behind the scenes an unbelievably good coalition builder, and so I think that that is going to be part of his legacy as well,&#8221; Shapiro added.
Indeed, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. credited Kirk with bringing him into the coalition that ultimately helped propel President Donald Trump back into the White House in November of 2024.
Shapiro also addressed the idea of safety at Kirk&#8217;s memorial, where someone had been arrested one day earlier, and he said that the current political climate had many Americans constantly looking over their shoulders.

Former Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV) said that comments from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in the wake of Charlie Kirk&#8217;s assassination were proof that the Democratic Party was &#8220;getting worse, not better.&#8221;
Manchin joined CNN host Kasie Hunt to discuss the current political climate, and she began by referring to Ocasio-Cortez&#8217;s comments objecting to the Congressional resolution to honor the recently murdered conservative commentator.

&#8220;She does say that we should &#8216;be clear about who Charlie Kirk was, a man who believed that the Civil Rights Act that granted black Americans the right to vote was a mistake,'&#8221; Hunt began. &#8220;She goes on to name some of the other things that he believes in. What was your reaction to her vote and to her statement afterward?&#8221;
&#8220;First of all, I just saw a little while ago, and I was stunned, Kasie. I really was,&#8221; Manchin replied. &#8220;This is not the place and the time for that at all. If the Democrats — if AOC and the far Left, the extreme Left I want to say — believe that&#8217;s where the party, the Democratic Party, is today, then that&#8217;ll tell you why you lost people like me, and an awful lot.&#8221;
&#8220;Now, let me tell you what you&#8217;ve lost,&#8221; Manchin continued. &#8220;Since the last election, they&#8217;ve been doing their national tour and thinking, boy, that&#8217;s something, we&#8217;re really getting into something. The Democratic Party has lost more than 160,000 Democrats that have basically left the party since the November election. So if that&#8217;s the way the Democrat Party is going, it’s getting worse, not better.&#8221;
Ocasio-Cortez was not the only one to use the resolution as an opportunity to smear Kirk and his legacy.

Joe Manchin ‘Stunned’ By AOC’s Charlie Kirk Rant: Dems ‘Are Getting Worse, Not Better’

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld weighed in after Democrats and media personalities reacted to ABC’s decision to oust late night comedy host Jimmy Kimmel, saying that many of them were more concerned about that than they were about the public assassination a week earlier of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Gutfeld made the observation on Thursday’s broadcast of panel discussion show “The Five,” where he argued that the left was trying — unsuccessfully — to turn Kimmel into the same level of “victim” as Kirk.

He went on to argue that unlike Kirk, Kimmel could still go home to see his kids every day: “You can’t turn Kimmel into Kirk.”
He concluded by referring to most media personalities — himself included — as “indoor cats” who would never engage in public debates with people they disagreed with in front of thousands of people the way Kirk had. “Even in death, Charlie is still winning debates.”

Greg Gutfeld Torches Jimmy Kimmel: ‘Even In Death, Charlie Keeps Winning Debates’

The Republican-led Senate confirmed 48 of President Donald Trump&#8217;s remaining nominees for below-cabinet-level federal positions, moving ahead with what&#8217;s called an &#8220;en bloc&#8221; nominee package after Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) invoked the nuclear option.
The bloc of 48 nominees confirmed on Thursday included a number of lower level War Department positions — and several ambassadorships including those held by Kimberly Guilfoyle and Callista Gingrich — and passed 51-47 along party lines.

Thune promised to move forward with the nuclear option a week earlier, saying that Democrats had stonewalled the process long enough.
Quoting Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/senate-republicans-implement-plan-to-push-through-federal-nominees-as-shutdown-looms">Thune</a> said that it was unacceptable for nominees to be blocked unless there was a legitimate reason or concern that made it necessary.
Thune also pointed out the fact that all of the 48 nominees in the first bloc had actually been approved out of committee — with bipartisan support — and were only being blocked in the full Senate.
The Senate Democrats, he said at the time, were intentionally stalling the process by refusing to allow the nominees to be confirmed by voice vote or unanimous consent, as is traditionally done with civilian nominees.
One major nominee who did not make it through on Thursday was former Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), whose nomination to serve as Ambassador to the United Nations is still pending. Democrats succeeded in recent weeks in having Waltz’s nomination sent back to committee.

48 Trump Nominees Confirmed In One Vote After Senate Goes To Nuclear Option

Comedy Central should continue to air the &#8220;South Park&#8221; episode that mocked the late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, one of those closest to him is saying.
Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of &#8220;The Charlie Kirk Show&#8221; and a friend of the Turning Point USA founder, said that Kirk would not want the episode pulled from the network in the wake of his assassination at Utah Valley University

The episode, titled &#8220;Got a Nut,&#8221; originally aired on August 6 — and featured the character Cartman parodying Kirk&#8217;s debate style and mannerisms. The show even got a positive review from Kirk himself: &#8220;Not bad, Cartman.&#8221;
Another person commented on the way the show&#8217;s creators had animated Cartman put down the microphone and take a sip of water while listening to a question — and then pick it back up afterward — prompting Kirk to add, &#8220;Eerily spot on.&#8221;

Kirk also made a video response to the episode, saying that the fact that they were mocking him was proof of just how big the movement he started had become. &#8220;There&#8217;s going to be a lot said about this, but we need to have a good spirit about being made fun of,&#8221; he said. &#8220;This is all a success, this is all a win.
