President Donald Trump said Monday that the nation’s capital would be liberated from “savagery, filth,” and “scum” as he is reportedly set to deploy the National Guard to Washington, D.C.
Trump made the comments in a Truth Social post ahead of a Monday press conference at the White House that is expected to focus on crime and homelessness in D.C. 
“Washington, D.C. will be LIBERATED today! Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will, MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN! The days of ruthlessly killing, or hurting, innocent people, are OVER! I quickly fixed the Border (ZERO ILLEGALS in last 3 months!), D.C. is next!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115010061198729847">wrote</a>. 
That post followed an earlier one where he wrote, “LIBERATION DAY IN D.C. WE ARE TAKING OUR CAPITAL BACK!!!”
For the past few months, Trump has repeatedly threatened to federalize D.C. over rampant crime and homelessness, and multiple <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/trump-crime-capital-netanyahu-defends-gaza-plan-morning-rundown-rcna224222">reports </a>suggest that he is prepared to deploy up to 1,000 National Guard troops to the city. 
The recent moves to crack down on crime in the nation&#8217;s capital come after 19-year-old Trump administration staffer Ed Coristine was beaten as he defended a woman from a group of teenagers during an attempted carjacking in D.C. Coristine, who once went by the moniker “Big Balls,” was surrounded by the teens while out late at night.
Trump said Sunday that he would be taking actions to get the homeless out of D.C. and make sure that criminals stay behind bars.
“We’re having a News Conference tomorrow in the White House. I’m going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital.”
“The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong. It’s all going to happen very fast, just like the Border. We went from millions pouring in, to ZERO in the last few months. This will be easier — Be prepared! There will be no ‘MR. NICE GUY.’ We want our Capital BACK. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he added.

Trump Promises To Liberate D.C. From ‘Savagery, Filth, And Scum’

President Donald Trump promised on Monday to clean up crime and vagrancy in the nation&#8217;s capital by shifting more responsibilities over the district to the federal government. 
Trump made the announcement during a press conference at the White House, where he laid out a number of executive actions he was taking to fight violent crime, decrease homelessness, and otherwise clean up Washington, D.C. 
“I&#8217;m announcing a historic action to rescue our nation&#8217;s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor, and worse,” Trump said. “ This is Liberation Day in D.C., and we&#8217;re gonna take our capital back. We&#8217;re taking it back.” 
Trump on Monday invoked Section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act and declared a public emergency. This granted him to move the D.C. Police Department under the control of the Justice Department. DEA Administrator Terry Cole will head the department, per Trump&#8217;s orders. 
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and U.S. District Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro all appeared alongside Trump at the news conference.
The president also added that he was sending 800 National Guard troops to patrol the streets of D.C. Last week, the administration sent 500 federal agents into the district, including from the FBI, ATF, DEA, Park Police, the U.S. Marshal Service, the Secret Service, and the Department of Homeland Security. 
“The murder rate in Washington today is higher than that of Bogota, Colombia, Mexico City, some of the places that you hear about as being the worst places on earth,” Trump said, adding that “the only language” that criminals understand is when you “knock the hell out of them.” 
The president added that he would like to see Republicans in Congress move to end cashless bail in the district, saying that the policy led to lawlessness in the streets. Trump added that he planned to improve infrastructure in the district and crack down on homeless encampments. 
“We&#8217;re going to replace the medians that are falling down all over the roads. We&#8217;re gonna replace the potholes,” he said. 
Burgum, who briefly spoke during the conference, said that Park Police had cleared over 70 homeless camps from D.C. since March 27. 
“We’re going to be removing homeless encampments from all over our parks, our beautiful, beautiful parks, which now a lot of people can&#8217;t walk on,” Trump said. “We&#8217;re moving the encampments away, trying to take care of people. Some of those people, we don&#8217;t know how they even got there.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said Sunday that he would continue to call special sessions of the Texas legislature until the rogue Democrats who fled the state to block redistricting returned.
Abbott also pledged to arrest the Democrats and take them to the Capitol building once they returned to Texas so the legislature could reconvene. Around 50 House Democrats left the state last week to block the legislature from redrawing election maps by denying a quorum. 
&#8220;I&#8217;m authorized to call a special session every 30 days. It lasts 30 days. And as soon as this one is over, I&#8217;m gonna call another one, then another one, then another one, then another one,&#8221; Abbott told Shannon Bream on Fox News Sunday.

&#8220;If they show back up in the state of Texas, they will be arrested and taken to the capitol. If they want to evade that arrest, they&#8217;re gonna have to stay outside of the state of Texas for literally years,&#8221; he added. “They might as well just start voting in California or voting in Illinois, wherever they may be.”
Abbott <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abbott-moves-to-oust-democrat-who-led-texas-walkout-stunt">filed a suit</a> with the Texas Supreme Court last Tuesday seeking to remove Democrat House Caucus Chair Gene Wu from office over the Democrat revolt. He argued that Wu has forfeited his spot in the legislature. 
&#8220;We have a situation where lawmakers are violating the law in Article 3 of the Texas Constitution where they are required to act on bills. Because they&#8217;re violating that constitutional mandate, that means they are not fulfilling their oath of office, and they can be removed from office in this legal action that I&#8217;m taking,&#8221; Abbott said Sunday. 
The Texas House was set to consider adopting GOP-backed election maps that would create five more favorable Republican seats in Congress. This prompted backlash from Democrat lawmakers who went to deep blue states like Massachusetts or Illinois to protest.

“What they’re talking about is a distraction. The reality is that the violation of people’s voting rights is what Texas is attempting to do. That’s what’s wrong with their efforts right now. And the fact that the president of the United States knows it and, nevertheless, is asking them to do it — that is what’s wrong with what we’re seeing right now. Democracy is at stake,” he said Sunday.

Abbott Vows To Hold Special Sessions In Texas ‘For Years’ Until Delinquent Dems Return

The man who avoided jail time after brutally beating two elderly pro-life advocates in Baltimore accused them of bothering “vulnerable people” seconds before attacking them, according to surveillance footage obtained by The Daily Wire.
Patrick Brice, 28, was<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/man-who-brutally-beat-elderly-pro-lifers-dodges-prison-time" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> sentenced</a> by Baltimore Judge Yvette Bryant on Thursday to just one year of home confinement and three years of probation for attacking 73-year-old Mark Crosby and 84-year-old Richard Schaefer as they stood outside Planned Parenthood doing pro-life sidewalk counseling. Crosby was left with serious injuries to his face and multiple fractures.
Before attacking the elderly men, Brice engaged in a heated argument with Schaefer where he told him to “quit bothering vulnerable people.” He then tackled the octogenarian into a potted plant and pushed Crosby to the ground before punching and kicking him in the head.
A four-minute video of the attack obtained by The Daily Wire shows the entire incident unfold. The Baltimore Police Department previously released about a one-minute video with various angles of the attack spliced together.

The footage shows both Schaefer and Crosby outside of the abortion facility alongside Planned Parenthood “escorts,&#8221; people who guide women seeking abortions into the facility. Brice walks by on the sidewalk before turning back and walking up to speak with Schaefer.
Brice shakes the hands of the Planned Parenthood escorts before continuing to debate Schaefer. Only bits and pieces of audio are discernible in the video, but it appears that Schaefer and Brice were engaged in a theological back-and-forth.
“Say you beat your dick, buddy, say you masturbate,” and “you did it once, repent, and you’ll never do it again. Get the hell out of here,” Brice appears to say in the video. Then he accuses him of harassing “vulnerable people” and Schaefer responded. According to the American Center for Law and Justice, Schaefer<a href="https://aclj.org/pro-life/abortion-distortion-on-full-display-at-the-trial-of-a-monster-who-violently-assaulted-two-elderly-pro-life-advocates" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> said</a> &#8220;it&#8217;s a child&#8221; in response to Brice&#8217;s comments about vulnerable people.
Brice then tackled Schaefer to the ground, breaking a potted plant. Crosby ran up and was forced to the ground and punched and kicked in the head. Brice walked away from the scene and several of the Planned Parenthood escorts ran into their building.
Schaefer is on the ground for about a minute before he attempts to stand up before bystanders tell him to not move before medical help arrives. Crosby was unconscious for about 12 seconds before he got up on his knees. With blood trickling down his face, Crosby walks into a building neighboring the Planned Parenthood, where he receives medical support.
During sentencing, Brice’s lawyer claimed that he believed that Schaefer had made a racially charged comment. Schaefer denied making any such comment or doing anything to provoke the attack. While prosecutors wanted Brice to serve 10 years in prison, Bryant gave him just a year of home detention, and will allow him to travel for work.

EXCLUSIVE: Full Video Shows Lead-Up To Brutal Attack Of Elderly Pro-Lifers By Man Who Dodged Prison

Republican attorneys general are putting the pressure on a British climate activist group targeting the oil and gas industry and pushing an “unachievable climate agenda” that could jeopardize American energy independence and food supply. 
Over a dozen Republican AGs, led by Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird, demanded Friday that the United Kingdom-based climate group Science Based Targets Initiative fork over documents on its work with companies to promote net zero emissions goals. The officials said that the group&#8217;s net zero commitments could run afoul of federal antitrust laws and state consumer protection laws. 
“Net zero programs are unrealistic and harm both American agriculture and industry. Making net zero a goal actively harms Americans, creates risk for energy independence, and increases the cost of food,” the officials wrote in a <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2025/08/09.07_-_FINAL_-_SBTi_Letter.pdf">letter</a> exclusively shared with The Daily Wire. “Some economic arrangements are illegal because they are unfair or unreasonably harmful to competition; the ‘good intentions’ behind them are irrelevant.”
Science Based Targets Initiative “assesses and validates companies’ and financial institutions’ targets” through its subsidiary SBTi services and “develops standards, tools and guidance to enable companies and financial institutions to set science-based targets in line with the latest climate science,&#8221; according to the group&#8217;s <a href="https://sciencebasedtargets.org/about-us">website</a>.
The group aims to crack down on greenhouse gas emissions and achieve net zero levels by at least 2050. Last month, it <a href="https://files.sciencebasedtargets.org/production/files/FINZ-in-brief.pdf?_gl=1*1ufvk31*_gcl_au*MTk1MTIzNDA4Mi4xNzUzMzY5NDgw*_ga*NTY0OTY4ODM1LjE3NTMzNjk0ODA.*_ga_22VNHNTFT3*czE3NTMzNjk0ODAkbzEkZzEkdDE3NTMzNzE1NTYkajYwJGwwJGgxOTY4MDIwOTA4">rolled</a> out a new “fossil fuel transition policy requirement” that “sets out clear steps and timelines for ceasing new financial activities and insurance services to the fossil fuel industry.” 
“SBTi is trying to redo President Biden’s radical green scheme,” Bird told The Daily Wire. “If successful, they’ll hurt farmers, energy producers, and Iowans. Their program limits output of goods or services but also net zero programs are unrealistic and harm both American agriculture and industry. Making net zero a goal actively harms Americans, creates risk for energy independence, and increases the cost of safe, healthy, nutritious food.” 
Similar organizations, including Climate Action 100+ and the Net Zero Asset Managers Alliances, have struggled in recent months after they lost major participants like BlackRock and other major financial institutions amid congressional and state scrutiny. 
In January, the House Judiciary Committee celebrated the exodus of groups from net zero alliances, with Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) calling the trend “a huge win for freedom and American prosperity.”
At one point, Net Zero Asset Managers Alliances, which says its goal is to push net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner, boasted its members controlled over $57 trillion in assets. The company has now suspended all activities following the departures.
However, the Republican attorneys general said they were concerned that the Science Based Targets Initiative was cropping up to push similar mandates and initiatives. 
“As did those who subscribed to the previous net-zero alliances, members agree that they will perform certain functions — here, shutting off funding and insurance to oil, gas, and coal expansion — to be validated by SBTi,” they wrote. “But companies cannot collude to refuse access to their services, whether they do so in a smoke-filled room or launder that collusion through a third party.”
In addition to Bird, the attorneys general of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wyoming, and West Virginia signed onto the letter.
They requested that the Science Based Targets Initiative provide communications by September 8 between the group and its members on how climate commitments would be met, how financial institutions&#8217; net zero goals were developed, and information on the group&#8217;s funding.
The Science Based Targets Initiative has already faced pressure from Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, who opened an investigation last week into SBTi to see if it may be violating consumer protection and antitrust laws. 
The attorneys general&#8217;s actions were backed by American Energy Institute CEO Jason Isaac and Consumers’ Research Executive Director Will Hild. 
“SBTi’s financial standards aren’t just unrealistic, they’re potentially illegal, coordinating global firms to cut off essential industries from capital and insurance. These actions drive up energy and food prices for American families, all while outsourcing control to foreign NGOs and U.N.-backed pressure groups,” Isaac told The Daily Wire. “Americans aren’t going to sit back while unelected activists dictate economic policy from across the Atlantic.&#8221;

Republican AGs Turn Up The Heat On British Climate Group Targeting Oil And Gas Industries

BALTIMORE — A man who brutally beat two elderly pro-life advocates escaped jail time on Thursday after a judge sentenced him to just one year of home detention and three years of probation.
The sentence for 28-year-old Patrick Brice was handed down by Baltimore City Circuit Judge Yvette M. Bryant. Brice was convicted earlier this year after he left 73-year-old Mark Crosby and 84-year-old Richard Schaefer bloodied outside of a Planned Parenthood on May 26, 2023. 
After the trial, Crosby told The Daily Wire that he was not surprised by the outcome. 
“Baltimore City is criminal-friendly. It&#8217;s not victim-friendly at all, especially if you&#8217;re a senior,” he said outside of the Elijah Cummings courthouse. “Judges do not like pro-lifers. They don&#8217;t like us saving babies, I don&#8217;t know why.&#8221;

He said the day he was beaten was “the most glorious” of his life and that he was happy to shed his own blood and suffer for Jesus. 
After the attack, Crosby was treated for a fractured bone in his face, blindness in one eye, head and neck pain, two fractured fingers, and bruising on his arms and legs. Crosby says that the attack left him with photophobia, meaning he has to cover his right eye on sunny days and from very bright lights. 
Crosby, a devout Catholic who was wearing a crucifix during the sentencing, brought photos of his bloodied face and the stained shirt he was wearing the day of the attack. The shirt was ripped from being cut off during shock trauma. 
Brice was convicted in February on two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. He dodged a first-degree assault charge in both a jury trial and a later bench trial in May. 
Bryant sentenced him to one year of home detention, which means he will be allowed to travel for work or medical purposes. He will get three years of probation after that and cannot go near an abortion facility or pro-life clinic as well. 
State prosecutors requested a total of 10 years in prison, asking that the judge send a “strong message of deterrence” against attacking people in broad daylight over their political and religious views.
Schaefer and Crosby both gave victim statements during the sentencing.
Schaefer said that “no matter how this goes,” he would be back at Planned Parenthood. He also flatly denied that he had done anything to provoke Brice, as suggested by his lawyer. 
Terrell Roberts, a lawyer, read Crosby&#8217;s victim impact statement. 
In the statement, Crosby asked for a lengthy prison sentence due to the “brutality of the attack” and that he “kicked me in the face like a football player kicking a field goal.” 
During the trial, Brice said that he was sorry for what he did and said that he “snapped” based on a comment he claimed Schaefer made to him that was racial in nature. He said, “I was having a bad day,” and that he was not an abortion activist. 
“I really am sorry,” he said. 
Brice’s lawyer claimed that the attack was not “politically motivated” and said that his client had lost jobs and a relationship because of the case. 
“Justice was not served in this case,” Roberts told The Daily Wire. “Sentencing, I thought, would end up right where it was because they were going to give them all the slack in the world.” 
Roberts said a failed application of the law by Bryant ended with Brice’s acquittal on first-degree assault.
Brice declined to make an official comment to reporters after the sentencing, but indicated he would be reaching out. 
The attack was captured on surveillance video that shows Schaeffer and Brice engaging in a heated argument outside of the downtown Baltimore Planned Parenthood facility. The video then shows Brice tackling Schaeffer into a potted plant. Crosby, who was standing across the street, then runs over, and Brice pushes him to the ground. Brice then straddles Crosby and punches him in the face before standing up and kicking him in the head. 
Schaefer and Crosby regularly go outside the downtown Baltimore Planned Parenthood facility to urge women not to get abortions. The attack did not deter their efforts, and they have both returned to the same Planned Parenthood in the months following the incident. 
Crosby believes that Brice should have been charged with a hate crime because he says he yanked a crucifix he was wearing off his neck and threw it into the bushes. Brice denied having any animosity toward Christians.
