House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) brought his chamber to a halt on Wednesday, holding a moment of silence for conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk after he was shot in the neck at an event in Utah.
Johnson spoke to <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/09/10/congress/johnson-on-charlie-kirk-00556264">reporters</a> ahead of the planned moment of silence, telling them, &#8220;We ask everyone to pray for him and his family. Political violence has become all too common in American society, and this is not who we are.&#8221;
The House Speaker joined a number of other elected officials in condemning political violence in the aftermath of the shooting, adding, &#8220;It violates core principles of our country today, our Judeo-Christian heritage, our civil society, our American way of life. And it must stop.&#8221;
&#8220;We need every political figure, we need everyone who has a platform to say this loudly and clearly: we can settle disagreements and disputes in a civil manner, end political violence,&#8221; Johnson said.
Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) voiced a similar sentiment when he first learned of the shooting, saying, &#8220;I condemn this in the strongest terms. There is ZERO place in our great country for these horrendous acts of political violence. We must find a better way forward. May Charlie Kirk have a full and quick recovery.&#8221;

Speaker Johnson Calls The House To A Halt, Holds Moment Of Silence For Charlie Kirk

Prayers and well-wishes flooded social media after conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
Video circulated of the shooting, which took place about 20 minutes after Kirk began speaking. A loud crack could be heard before Kirk jerked back and then slumped to the side in his chair. School officials told local news outlets that the shot had been fired from atop the Losee Center, about 200 yards from where Kirk was speaking.
Kirk appeared to be hit in the neck by a single shot while speaking at one of his signature college campus events, and his condition remains unknown. Many of Kirk&#8217;s friends and fellow conservatives around the country encouraged their followers to lift up Kirk, a devout Christian, in prayer. Kirk is also a husband and a father of two small children.
Shortly after reports of the shooting began spreading on social media, Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee posted, &#8220;Shots fired at @charliekirk11 event at Utah Valley University. This is a good time to pray.&#8221;
Utah&#8217;s other Republican Senator, John Curtis, added, &#8220;My heart goes out to Charlie, those in attendance, and their families. We are praying for his safety and the well-being of everyone impacted. My team and I will continue to gather more information as it becomes available and are closely monitoring the situation. I am grateful for the swift response of law enforcement and first responders working to secure the campus.&#8221;
After initially calling for everyone to pray for Kirk, Vice President JD Vance shared a photo and another statement. &#8220;Dear God, protect Charlie in his darkest hour,&#8221; he said.

‘Dear God, Protect Charlie In His Darkest Hour’: Prayers Pour Out For Kirk Following Shooting

The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; on Wednesday discussed the horrific stabbing that took place on a light-rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina, in late August, and quickly concluded that President Donald Trump was actually to blame for it.
Cohost Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the discussion by noting the seriousness of the situation. &#8220;Look, a young woman is dead,&#8221; she said before criticizing those who would bring politics into the conversation. &#8220;A man who should have been behind bars was loose and out &#8230; he was a schizophrenic man. His mother begged them to take him and put him away. So stop politicizing this! This is not political! This has to do with how we take care of our sick Americans when they are in need.&#8221;

In May they cut $1 billion in federal grants for mental health services.&#8221;
Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin, billed as the lone Republican on the panel despite a 2024 vote for Kamala Harris, tried to dial back the politics slightly. &#8220;I don&#8217;t think most Americans hear a tragedy and see that video footage and think is this the Democrat or Republicans fault? They think what went wrong and what could the solution be?&#8221;
She then identified bail reform as a problem, but failed to connect it to the Democratic policies that it so often accompanies.

Goldberg wrapped up the conversation by once again scolding Republicans for calling out the Democratic policies that have encouraged crime in nearly every major city nationwide. Instead, she blamed Republicans: &#8220;Every time you blame somebody for this it makes people say, &#8216;well, you let it happen because you made these cuts &#8230; you got to be a help and not a hindrance!'&#8221;
The murder took place on August 22, when 14-time repeat offender Decarlos Johnson Jr. — who was reportedly aboard the train without a ticket — stood up and stabbed 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian refugee who had been sitting quietly in front of him and looking at her phone. While she bled out in her seat, Johnson stood up and walked to the door, calmly removing his sweatshirt as her blood dripped onto the floor.
Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, after giving <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/charlotte-mayor-uses-brutal-train-murder-to-lecture-about-mental-health-resources" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lip service</a> to the victim and her family, went on a lengthy rant about the state of mental health care and resources in North Carolina. She failed to mention that Johnson had already seen 14 court cases in Mecklenburg County alone and had been released on his own recognizance at his last court appearance. She also did not mention that the Charlotte District Attorney&#8217;s Office was under-resourced, with only 85 active prosecutors and a backlog of three hundred homicide cases.

‘The View’ Tries To Pin Horrific Train Murder On President Trump

Newly-released emails suggest that Dr. Anthony Fauci went out of his way to hide information during the COVID-19 pandemic — and then lied about doing so when questioned about it by members of Congress.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) shared screenshots of two separate emails, both of which contained information that Fauci apparently did not want to see the light of day — in both cases, Fauci had clearly instructed the recipient to &#8220;delete&#8221; the message once it had been read. Paul also shared a copy of a letter addressed to Fauci on September 9, referencing the emails in conjunction with his prior testimony — during which he claimed several times that he had not attempted to hide or delete any relevant information regarding the pandemic from Congress — and calling for him to testify again.

Paul included in the letter a list of documents that Fauci, 84, was to provide within two weeks, no later than 5 pm on September 23. In addition to emails, attachments, calls, texts, and voicemails, Paul requested all telephone numbers, messaging app usernames, and email addresses — whether government or private — that Fauci used between January 1, 2018, and January 1, 2023.
He followed the letter with additional X posts showing the emails in question.
&#8220;Freshly released emails expose another layer of the Fauci COVID Coverup. In April 2020, his staff flagged my post on NYC’s soaring death rate. Fauci’s reply? Call me &#8216;full of s**t,&#8217; spin the numbers, and order your staff to &#8216;delete this after you read it.&#8217; He knew the reckoning was eventually coming.&#8221;

‘Delete This After You Read It’: Fauci Ordered Staff To Cover Up Email Defending COVID Lockdowns

Ten North Carolina Republican Reps., led by Rep. Tim Moore (R-NC), called on Tuesday for the removal of Magistrate Judge Teresa Stokes, who released 14-time offender Decarlos Johnson Jr. before he murdered Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.
Moore shared a letter, signed by nine of his colleagues, in which he called on Chief Judge Roy Wiggins to begin “formal removal proceedings” against Stokes, saying that her decision to release Johnson — based solely on his written promise to return for his next court date — had been, at best, “reckless.”
“Despite his history of violent and unstable behavior, Magistrate Stokes released Brown without requiring bond or imposing any meaningful conditions to safeguard the public,” the letter read.
“This reckless decision had devastating consequences,” the letter continued, referencing Zarutska’s murder. “Ms. Zarutska’s murder was not only a profound personal tragedy but also a direct result of a failure of judicial responsibility. Magistrate Stokes displayed a willful failure to perform the duties of her office and engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice.”
Moore added a brief caption to the letter, which he posted to X: “Today, I led a letter calling for the removal of Magistrate Judge Teresa Stokes, who released a 14-time offender who went on to murder Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte. This tragedy was preventable. There must be accountability. North Carolinians deserve better.”

Johnson, who was also reportedly struggling with mental health issues, sat behind Zarutska on a light-rail train in Charlotte — and while she sat quietly looking at her phone, he stood up and stabbed her at least once in the neck. He then walked calmly to the door, removing his sweatshirt as her blood dripped on the floor. She collapsed in her seat and bled out.
