WASHINGTON— Two White House officials confirmed to The Daily Wire on Friday afternoon that the White House has offered Katie Zacharia the job of press secretary.

Sources told The Daily Wire that Zacharia has not yet accepted the offer. She did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Zacharia, 41, previously served as a senior communications official at the Department of Homeland Security and spokeswoman for former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. She left the agency about six weeks after arriving as DHS underwent leadership changes.

She currently serves as a senior communications advisor for Trump Media & Technology Group.

A mother of four, Zacharia is a Republican attorney and media commentator who worked in the Bush White House Office of Public Affairs, on Trump’s 2024 campaign, and in his second administration. During her legal career, she served as a federal judicial clerk and worked at a major Beijing law firm. She attended Pepperdine University and Pepperdine Caruso Law.

During a Thursday appearance on Fox News, Zacharia praised Trump’s efforts to energize voters ahead of the midterm elections.

“President Trump has re-energized the base, he has re-energized the midterm elections like no other president I have ever seen. And when President Trump was actually on the ballot, he won all seven swing states, the House and the Senate.”

“So while he’s not on the ballot, he said yesterday in Texas, ‘I am ostensibly on the ballot, act like I’m on the ballot,’ because all of these policies…are on the ballot, our energy, our military, our naval ship yard building,” Zacharia added. “While Joe Biden was laying on the beach in Delaware, China was building more naval ships from 2020 to 2025 than the United States, South Korea, and Japan combined.”

She urged viewers to take the president seriously, promising that what Trump has done for the “booming economy that he is re-surging,” but really his efforts to reclaim the “Western Hemisphere.”

“That is what is on the ballot right here,” she added.

President Trump announced in mid-August that Karoline Leavitt would step down as White House press secretary to spend more time with her family and work for MAGA Inc. She recently began a new role as a Fox News contributor.

The president praised Leavitt as “a real leader in the White House,” saying that she “has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom, since 2018, including our Historic Re-Election Campaign of 2024.”

“Karoline has been one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office. Thank you, Karoline, for a job well done!” the president said.

The youngest White House press secretary in history, Leavitt became known for her fierce defense of Trump, curled-lip responses to legacy media from the podium, and her embrace of new media outlets at the White House. She also worked aggressively behind the scenes to field questions from reporters, persuade or dissuade them on framing, and run the White House communications team.

“It is a blessing, a privilege and honor to stand behind the White House podium,” she said on August 27, her last day at the White House. “So, whoever gets the job next is a very lucky person to work for this president at this moment in history, and I’ll be here to help every step of the way.”
