<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">President-elect <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump’s</a> nominee to head the State Department may be on track for a Monday confirmation vote on Trump’s first day in office.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Trump’s nominees continue to sail through the confirmation process as Democratic skeptics have failed to kill the momentum of any one nominee so far since former Rep. Matt Gaetz’s nomination to attorney general hit significant pushback. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Trump’s nominee to be the next Secretary of State, could be the first of Trump’s cabinet to be confirmed.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rubio garnered bipartisan support during his confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on January 15. Discussions are underway in the Senate now to decide whether to expedite the nomination process for Rubio to confirm his appointment on Monday after Trump’s inauguration into office as the 47th President of the United States, according to </span><a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/01/16/trump-day-one-cabinet-marco-rubio-00198788"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Politico</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In order for Rubio to be confirmed on Monday, all 100 senators would have to agree under Senate rules to expedite the confirmation vote. A committee vote on Rubio’s nomination is scheduled for Monday, Senate Foreign Relations Chair Jim Risch of Idaho told Politico.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He added that he believed Republicans could convince Democrats to fast-track Rubio’s vote in front of the entire Senate.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“How could you not? This guy is the gold standard,” Risch said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rubio’s Senate seat will be filled by Florida’s current attorney general, Ashley Moody. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his intention to tap Moody for the role last week.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“In every major battle we have had since I have been governor, she has been with us every step of the way — not just talk, it&#8217;s results,” DeSantis said, announcing Moody’s pick. “And these results are very, very important, and she understands the gravity of the moment.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Trump is scheduled to take the oath of office in the Capitol building Monday around noon. Frigid temperatures expected in Washington, D.C., on Inauguration Day pushed the ceremony indoors and forced organizers to cancel the traditional parade.</span></p>
