On Thursday, President Trump retweeted a post by presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway pointing to a head-turning report about the response of Christine Blasey Ford’s father to the confirmation of now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the man Blasey Ford famously accused without evidence of sexual assault.

On Thursday, The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway and Carrie Severino reported on the bombshell claim that Ralph Blasey, the father of Christine, “supported Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation.”

Hemingway and Severino report that “multiple” sources told The Federalist that within days of Kanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, Ralph Blasey approached Brett Kavanaugh’s father at the golf club where they are both members, shook his hand, and told him, “I’m glad Brett was confirmed.” The Federalist reports:

Ralph Blasey, Ford’s father, went out of his way to offer to Ed Kavanaugh his support of Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, according to multiple people familiar with the conversation that took place at Burning Tree Clubin Bethesda, Maryland. “I’m glad Brett was confirmed,” Ralph Blasey told Ed Kavanaugh, shaking his hand. Blasey added that the ordeal had been tough for both families.

The encounter immediately caused a stir at the close-knit private golf club as staff and members shared the news. The conversation between the two men echoed a letter that Blasey had previously sent to the elder Kavanaugh. Neither man returned requests for comment about the exchanges.

Hemingway tweeted out the article, which prompted a response from Conway that Trump then retweeted:

In their report, Hemingway and Severino note that the response of Blasey Ford’s family has long raised eyebrows.

“The Blasey family stayed conspicuously silent about the veracity of her allegations,” they write. “A public letter of support for Ford that began ‘As members of Christine Blasey Ford’s family . . .’ wasn’t signed by a single blood relative. Reached for comment by the Washington Post, her father simply said, ‘I think all of the Blasey family would support her. I think her record stands for itself. Her schooling, her jobs and so on,’ before hanging up.”

Hemingway and Severino also highlight the numerous problems with Blasey Ford’s claims, including that she offered no proof of even having met Kavanaugh, could not remember when or where the alleged incident happened, how she arrived at or left the alleged party, and, most notably, that all four of the alleged witnesses she named either denied any knowledge of the party or flatly contradicted her claims.

As The Daily Wire reported, an extensive investigation by the Senate Judiciary Committee released in November 2018 concluded that, after speaking with 45 individuals and taking 25 written statements, committee investigators did not find “any evidence to substantiate or corroborate any of the allegations” against Kavanaugh.

“After an extensive investigation that included the thorough review of all potentially credible evidence submitted and interviews of more than 40 individuals with information relating to the allegations, including classmates and friends of all those involved, Committee investigators found no witness who could provide any verifiable evidence to support any of the allegations brought against Justice Kavanaugh,” the committee states. “In other words, following the separate and extensive investigations by both the Committee and the FBI, there was no evidence to substantiate any of the claims of sexual assault made against Justice Kavanaugh.”

As noted by The Daily Wire, video has recently emerged of Blasey Ford’s lawyer Debra Katz telling an audience at the University of Baltimore’s Feminist Legal Theory Conference earlier this year that her client made the accusation, in part, because she wanted to protect Roe v. Wade.

“In the aftermath of these hearings, I believe that Christine’s testimony brought about more good than the harm misogynist Republicans caused by allowing Kavanaugh on the court,” said Katz. “We were going to have a conservative [justice] … Elections have consequences, but he will always have an asterisk next to his name. When he takes a scalpel to Roe v. Wade, we will know who he is, we know his character, and we know what motivates him, and that is important; it is important that we know, and that is part of what motivated Christine.”
