Leading politicians on both sides of the aisle stood together in New York City on Wednesday to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were joined by former President Donald Trump and his running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH). Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg were also in attendance.

Video of the ceremony shows Bloomberg getting Harris’ attention and appearing to tell her that Trump had arrived before the two opponents shook hands for the second time in the past 12 hours. Trump and Harris showed up for the 9/11 ceremony following their first debate in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. People in the crowd are heard shouting support for Trump after he arrived at the ceremony.

New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, former NYC Mayors Bill de Blasio and Rudy Guiliani, and Trump’s sons, Eric and Don Jr., were also in attendance.

The solemn ceremony remembered the 2,977 Americans who died 23 years ago. Mourners observed a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. ET — when the first hijacked plane hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center — and another moment of silence at 9:03 a.m. — when the second plane hit the South Tower. Moments of silence will also be held at 9:37 a.m. for when the Pentagon was struck, 9:59 a.m. for when the South Tower collapsed, 10:03 a.m. for when Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and 10:28 a.m. for when the North Tower fell.

During the ceremony, each of the victims’ names is read aloud, and the full ceremony usually lasts until around 12:30 p.m., CBS News reported.

Trump, Harris, and Biden are also expected to attend the ceremony in Shanksville for the victims of Flight 93 later on Wednesday.

“Never forget each of the 2,977 precious lives stolen from us when terrorists attacked our nation,” Biden said in a statement. “Never forget their families who still bear the grief from that searing September morning. Never forget the heroic citizens and survivors who rushed to help their fellow Americans. And never forget that when faced with evil-and an enemy that sought to tear us apart-we endured.”
