Trump Golfs With Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Has A Message For Everyone About Tiger

On Saturday, President Trump enjoyed a round of golf at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida with two golf legends who reportedly hadn’t played together in nearly 20 years: Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. After initially tweeting about the round with the two great golfers, the president provided fans an update on Woods’ game.

After shutting down travel for several weeks during the longest partial government shutdown in history, Trump flew down to Florida for the first time since Thanksgiving on Saturday to play some golf with the two pros, both of whom he’s partnered with in the past. In fact, Nicklaus helped design the very course where they played.

On Saturday morning, Trump tweeted out a photo of him and the two pros at the Jupiter course. “Great morning at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida with Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods!” he wrote.

On Sunday, Trump followed up his initial post with a message to the golfing world about Woods.

“Everyone is asking how Tiger played yesterday,” Trump wrote. “The answer is Great! He was long, straight & putted fantastically well. He shot a 64. Tiger is back & will be winning Majors again!”

The president also made a note about Nicklaus’s play and his relationship with Woods. “Not surprisingly, Jack also played really well. His putting is amazing!” he wrote. “Jack & Tiger like each other.”

Golf.com framed the trio’s round of golf as having eclipsed the weekend’s big golf tournaments. “The highest profile round of the day is not happening on the European Tour nor the PGA Tour,” the outlet reported. “It’s happening at Trump National Jupiter, where President Trump is playing with Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.”

The outlet noted that Trump’s course in Jupiter “butts up next to Nicklaus’s ‘The Bear’s Club’ — in fact, the two private clubs share the same driveway — so to see the two playing together is not wholly surprising,” while “Woods is a Jupiter resident and has also played rounds with Trump in the past.” This is the first time the two famous players have played together in nearly 20 years, Golf.com noted.

As Fox News reports, Trump had remained in Washington, D.C. for the duration of the government shutdown, which lasted a record 35 days. He agreed to reopen the government last week after Democrats refused to budge on the $5.7 billion funding for his border wall.

This isn’t the first news involving Trump and Tiger. Woods experienced some blowback from the Left a few months ago when he said he respected Trump because he respects the office.

“Well, I’ve known Donald for a number of years,” Woods said in an interview in late August after “controversy” over his comment about respecting Trump, ESPN reports. “We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together. I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.”

Pressed by reporters about Trump’s policies supposedly hurting people, Woods said, “Well, he’s the president of the United States. You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”

Asked if he wanted to make some further comments on race relations, Woods replied, “No. I just finished 72 holes and am really hungry.”

Trump weighed in on the “controversy” on Twitter by slamming the “Fake News Media” and praising Woods for refusing to play the media’s “game.”

“The Fake News Media worked hard to get Tiger Woods to say something that he didn’t want to say,” Trump wrote. “Tiger wouldn’t play the game – he is very smart. More importantly, he is playing great golf again!”
