The Trump administration’s deportation campaign came for a former NFL player accused of several crimes, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said Saturday.
Former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Daniel Ogama Adongo, 37, who hails from Kenya, had multiple arrests in Indiana going back nine years before an immigration judge ultimately ordered him deported on March 23, 2026, according to ICE. The agency deported him on June 20.
“This dangerous individual was clearly a threat to the community, which is now safer since he’s been removed,” ICE Chicago Assistant Field Office Director Douglas Thompson said.
“Those who violate immigration law are held equally accountable, including former professional athletes,” Thompson added.

Adongo was accused of felony intimidation, battery and disorderly conduct. He also received a conviction in 2020 for criminal mischief with damage, for which he received a 364 day sentence.
The Kenyan national had overstayed his visa in 2016 after his time with the NFL ended in 2015.
Andogo played for the Colts for two seasons starting from 2013 and ending in 2015, according to ICE. He was recruited to play for the team as a rugby player.
“This CRIMINAL and former NFL linebacker has been DEPORTED after he broke our laws,” ICE said in an X post.
“Our communities are SAFER now that this criminal is OUT of our country,” the agency said.
Since Trump’s return to the White House, ICE has deported roughly 706,000 illegal immigrants, which some immigration hawks have said falls short of the goal of a mass deportation, according to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data obtained by The Daily Wire.
“Bed space and detention centers had to be rebuilt and 10,000 agents hired and Congress wouldn’t pass the big beautiful budget bill for the first six months. Everything is finally in place now so I’m optimistic the numbers will only climb higher from here,” Todd Bensman, who left his role as senior adviser to the ICE Office of the Director last month, recently told The Daily Wire.
ICE agents have reported facing renewed pressure to increase arrest numbers.
“It’s wearing everyone out,” one agency source told The Daily Wire.
“And at the same time, they want big arrests … but those take time to sit and find and wait. No vehicle stops too, which is harder. So they want big arrests and numbers at the same time. It’s hard to do both, not enough time or days to do it,” the source said.
