<p>Trump border czar Tom Homan taunted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Tuesday over her threatening &#8220;consequences&#8221; if her Democrat colleagues were punished for a scuffle at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Newark, New Jersey.</p>
<p>During a Fox News appearance on &#8220;The Ingraham Angle,&#8221; Homan referenced Ocasio-Cortez&#8217;s warning, which happened before federal prosecutors charged Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) in connection with the incident.</p>
<p>&#8220;Remember, just a couple weeks ago, AOC went on social media saying if we put a finger on any of her co-workers — Congresspeople that were at our Newark facility, there would be consequences. Well, guess what? We did it. I&#8217;m waiting on the consequences,&#8221; Homan <a href="https://x.com/theblaze/status/1927518497086611616" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.</p>

<p>In a live stream, Ocasio-Cortez defended her colleagues, including McIver, who clashed with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials during what they claim was lawful oversight of the ICE facility.</p>
<p>&#8220;If anyone is breaking the law in this situation, it’s not members of Congress, it’s the Department of Homeland Security. It’s people like Tom Homan and Secretary Kristi Noem,&#8221; Ocasio-Cortez <a href="https://x.com/libsoftiktok/status/1922338757392396473" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;You lay a finger on someone — on &#8230; any of the representatives that were there. You lay a finger on them, we&#8217;re going to have a problem.&#8221;</p>

<p>In the days that followed, federal prosecutors <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/new-jersey-rep-mciver-released-on-recognizance-after-court-appearance-for-immigrant-detention-skirmish" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged</a> McIver with two counts of assaulting, resisting, and impeding officers while allegedly trying to stop the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. Each charge <a href="https://www.nj.com/essex/2025/05/nj-congresswoman-faces-16-years-in-prison-for-assault-charges-in-ice-detention-center-clash.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison. McIver claims the charges are &#8220;purely political&#8221; and &#8220;mischaracterize and distort&#8221; her actions.</p>
<p>Homan and Ocasio-Cortez have gone back and forth at each other for years. After Ocasio-Cortez dared Homan in a recent town hall to refer her to the Department of Justice for “using her free speech rights” to advise illegal immigrants on how to avoid law enforcement, the border czar <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/aoc-dared-tom-homan-to-come-after-her-for-helping-illegals-heres-his-response" target="_blank" rel="noopener">quipped</a> on Fox News, &#8220;I take pleasure I can live in her mind rent-free every day.&#8221;</p>
