President Donald Trump clashed with a PBS reporter on Monday, rejecting the suggestion that he had no concern for the Iranian people.

“How is it taking care of the Iranian people if you’re bombing?” the PBS reporter asked.

“Who you with?” Trump asked.

“PBS,” the reporter replied.

“Well, that’s a radical leftist group of lunatics if you will,” Trump fired.

He went on to argue that many Iranians oppose the regime and support America’s actions against it.

“The Iranian people, when they don’t hear bombs go off, they’re upset,” Trump said. “They want to hear bombs because they want to be free. And the only reason they’re not out protesting is because they were informed that if they protest… they will be shot immediately.”

Reports have highlighted instances of Iranians expressing support for strikes targeting regime infrastructure. “In one video, young Iranian men shouted ‘I love Trump’ as smoke was seen billowing from a nearby strike,” the Jerusalem Post reported.

Iran International also reported videos from inside the country in which Iranians expressed approval of strikes against regime-linked facilities. “In these fateful weeks, strikes thunder against steel plants at Mobarakeh and Khuzestan, sites tied to the Pasteur Institute, vital transport arteries, and facilities of Shahid Beheshti University—formerly Melli University,” Iran International reported on Sunday. “They ignite fierce controversy, yet they also summon an unexpected surge of public approval across Iran. Civilians dispatch streams of video clips to Iran International. The clips capture Iranians who voice heartfelt gratitude to President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for striking at the very sinews of the regime’s repressive machine.”

President Trump said the U.S. has launched an investigation into how news of a missing airman leaked to the media. “We’re looking very hard to find that leaker,” he said. Trump blamed the report for endangering the rescue mission in Iran.

Trump said he planned to ask the media company that first reported on the rescue mission to share the source of its reporting. He didn’t name the media company. “Give it up or go to jail,” Trump said. “They put that man at great risk, and they put the hundreds of people that went in looking for him.”

The three men were convicted of moharebeh — or “waging war against God” — and the alleged killing of two Law Enforcement Command (Faraja) officers during a protest in Qom on January 8, 2026.

Human rights organizations, including the HENGAW Organization for Human Rights and Iran Human Rights, had denounced the proceedings as “sham trials.” Mohammadi’s conviction relied almost entirely on confessions allegedly obtained through severe physical and psychological torture, according to reports. Although the young athlete retracted these statements in court, testifying that they were coerced, the judiciary rejected his claims. Monitors said the court disregarded potentially exculpatory evidence, including witness testimony from family members and CCTV footage that they say failed to place Mohammadi at the scene.

“The regime has done the exact opposite of what it signaled to the world,” said famed dissident Masih Alinejad, referring to earlier indications that executions of protest-related detainees might be halted. “This is not just about sports; this is about human dignity.”
