President Donald Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday with a large delegation from his cabinet for meetings with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other high-ranking Saudi officials.
Air Force One landed at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh at around 9:49 a.m. local time after an escort from a pair of Saudi F-15 fighter jets. Once on the ground, Trump was greeted by Mohammed bin Salman, who then took him inside the airport for a brief welcome with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
From the airport, Trump and the American delegation were brought to the Saudi Royal Court by an escort of Arabian horses. While speaking with the crown prince, Trump said he believed Saudi investment in the United States could create up to two million jobs, adding, &#8220;I really believe we like each other a lot.&#8221;

Trump announced in March that Saudi Arabia had committed to investing $1 trillion into the American economy.
“I made a deal with Saudi Arabia…I said I’ll go if you pay $1 trillion to American companies, meaning the purchase over a four-year period of $1 trillion, and they’ve agreed to do that,” he said at the time.
Many prominent businessmen and investors, including several Americans, are being hosted for lunch by the crown prince. Attendees include Elon Musk, Blackstone Group CEO Stephen Schwarzman, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, LinkedIn Chairman Reid Hoffman, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and many others, according to the White House.
“As you know, we have the biggest business leaders in the world here,” Trump <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/05/13/trump-middle-east-saudi-arabia-qatar-uae/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during his meeting with the crown prince, according to the Washington Post. “They’re going to walk away with a lot of checks for a lot of things that you’re going to provide.”
The lunch is being attended by top Trump officials as well, including Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Trump&#8217;s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, according to a list provided by the White House.
The Saudi Arabia trip is Trump&#8217;s first stop on his second foreign trip of his second term. Trump attended Pope Francis&#8217; funeral in Vatican City on April 26. He is expected to visit Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and possibly Turkey.

A Democratic National Committee panel voted Monday to void the election of David Hogg as vice chair after a complaint that his election violated gender parity rules. 
The DNC credentials panel voted 13-2 to invalidate the elections of Hogg and Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta because of a complaint that women had been discriminated against during the vote. In response, Hogg suggested that the DNC was retaliating against him based on his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-dnc-leader-david-hogg-says-hell-push-primaries-against-some-in-his-own-party">calls</a> to primary members of his own party. 
&#8220;Today, the DNC took its first steps to remove me from my position as Vice Chair At-Large. While this vote was based on how the DNC conducted its officers’ elections, which I had nothing to do with, it is also impossible to ignore the broader context of my work to reform the party which loomed large over this vote,&#8221; Hogg said.
&#8220;I ran to be DNC Vice Chair to help make the Democratic Party better, not to defend an indefensible status quo that has caused voters in almost every demographic group to move away from us,” he added. “The DNC has pledged to remove me, and this vote has provided an avenue to fast-track that effort.” 
Credential panel member Christine Pelosi, daughter of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, <a href="https://x.com/sfpelosi/status/1922083770439803107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> that the vote had nothing to do with Hogg&#8217;s comments, only procedural violations. That position was echoed by Kenyatta, who said that any reporter wanting to make the story about Hogg was “full of s***.”
“The credentials committee believed, as they stated, that they are remedying a procedural flaw. But doing so the way they did, is a slap in my face. I’m frustrated, but I’ll be ok,” Kenyatta <a href="https://x.com/malcolmkenyatta/status/1922110524059275417" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> on X. “However any story about this, that neatly places this into a narrative about David Hogg is wrong. I worked my ass off to get this role and have done the job every day since I’ve held it.”
The decision came after vice chair candidate Kalyn Free <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dei-at-the-dnc-could-force-david-hogg-out-as-vice-chair" target="_blank" rel="noopener">argued</a> that the February vote resulting in Hogg’s and Keynatta’s election had “discriminated against three women of color candidates.” After a tied committee vote on the issue in February, further debate resulted in a final vote to void the election based on Free&#8217;s complaint. Hogg and Kenyatta will continue to be vice chairs until a full vote of the DNC. 
Hogg has drawn the ire of top Democratic officials after he promised to spend $20 million through his Leaders We Deserve organization in primary challenges against Democrats he believes are failing. DNC Chair Ken Martin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dnc-chief-warns-david-hogg-if-you-challenge-dem-incumbents-leave-dnc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that he was fine if Hogg wanted to organize primary challenges, but not as a member of the DNC. 
&#8220;As I’ve said to him, ‘If you want to challenge incumbents, you’re more than free to do that, but just not as an officer of the DNC, because our job is to be neutral arbiters. We can’t be both the referee and also the player at the same time. You have to make a decision,&#8221; he said.

David Hogg Gets Bad News From DNC After Vow To Primary Democrats

A major medical organization that accredits all graduate medical education programs, like internships and residency programs, announced Friday that it was suspending some of its &#8220;diversity&#8221; requirements.
The board of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education released a statement announcing it was pausing certain &#8220;diversity&#8221; requirements due to concerns about compliance with federal law. The announcement comes after President Donald Trump called out the accreditation organization in an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-takes-sledgehammer-to-dei-in-latest-round-of-executive-orders-targeting-education" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> asking the Education Department to crack down on accreditation bodies mandating universities adopt DEI programs.
&#8220;The ACGME has heard significant concerns from multiple constituents in several states and from federal Sponsoring Institutions about their ability to comply with some of the ACGME requirements addressing diversity in light of state or federal laws,&#8221; the organization said Friday, noting that it was suspending multiple diversity requirements because of &#8220;uncertainty&#8221; about their legality.
The organization said that it would be further addressing the requirements at its June board meeting.
The diversity <a href="https://www.acgme.org/globalassets/pfassets/programrequirements/800_institutionalrequirements2022.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">requirements</a> included mandating that institutions sponsoring medical education programs implement policies to recruit a &#8220;diverse and inclusive&#8221; workforce of residents and faculty.
&#8220;The Sponsoring Institution, in partnership with each of its programs, must engage in practices that focus on ongoing, mission-driven, systematic recruitment and retention of a diverse and inclusive workforce of residents/fellows, faculty members, senior administrative staff members, and other relevant members of its GME community,&#8221; the requirement reads.

The board also paused a <a href="https://www.acgme.org/globalassets/pfassets/programrequirements/cprresidency_2023.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">similar policy</a> for its residency program requirements.
In an April <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/04/reforming-accreditation-to-strengthen-higher-education/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a>, Trump mentioned the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education as one of the accrediting bodies he said had “abused&#8221; its &#8220;enormous authority” by forcing universities to adopt DEI policies.
“The Secretary of Education shall, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, hold accountable, including through denial, monitoring, suspension, or termination of accreditation recognition, accreditors who fail to meet the applicable recognition criteria or otherwise violate Federal law, including by requiring institutions seeking accreditation to engage in unlawful discrimination in accreditation-related activity under the guise of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ initiatives,” Trump wrote.
The announcement from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education earned praised from Dr. Travis Morrell, a senior fellow at Do No Harm, an organization devoted to getting politics out of medicine.
&#8220;ACGME has finally cracked after three months of doubling-down on its commitment to radical identity politics. ACGME’s suspension of absurd diversity rules is an encouraging first step but now it must permanently eliminate these requirements – along with the equity in education rule it still enforces,&#8221; Morrell told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The sudden change of tune is a direct result of President Trump’s historic executive order dismantling accreditors’ ability to impose DEI requirements on schools. By prioritizing expertise over politics, we will slowly but surely restore a culture of meritocracy to American medical institutions.&#8221;

Major Medical Org Changes Tune On DEI After Trump Executive Order

Senator Ted Cruz praised Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy for promising to restore a historic painting of Jesus comforting sailors adrift at sea back to a place of prominence in the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy after the Biden administration moved it to a basement.
Cruz thanked Duffy on Friday for his commitment to moving the 81-year-old painting, “Christ On The Water,” back to its original location at the academy. In a letter to Duffy obtained by The Daily Wire, Cruz said that restoring the painting, which depicts Jesus appearing to sailors lost at sea during World War II, was an imperative step to protect America’s religious heritage. 
“Your public acknowledgment of the painting’s spiritual and historical significance was a powerful moment of moral clarity and leadership—one that resonated not only with the midshipmen in attendance, but with countless Americans who care deeply about preserving our nation’s religious and military heritage,” Cruz wrote. 
Last month, Duffy was met with a round of applause at the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York, after he called for the painting to be moved out of the basement. The Transportation Department&#8217;s Maritime Administration operates the academy, and gives direction over its policies and management. 
&#8220;Can we bring Jesus up from the basement?&#8221; Duffy said. &#8220;Let&#8217;s not put Jesus in the basement! Let&#8217;s get Him out! Let&#8217;s bring Him up!&#8221;

&#8220;Christ On the Water&#8221; was completed in 1944 by artist Hunter Wood, who trained at the Merchant Marine Academy and was in the Coast Guard. In 1947 the painting was installed at the Merchant Marine Academy’s Wiley Hall Elliot See Room where it was displayed until 2023 when the Biden administration moved it because of a complaint from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

“Your statement—&#8217;Can we bring Jesus up from the basement?’—was more than rhetorical. I trust it will be seen as an imperative,” Cruz wrote. “Thank you for your principled leadership, for defending our nation’s religious heritage, and for working to ensure that this government-commissioned memorial is returned to its rightful place.”
Cruz said the removal of the painting had no legal basis and was an example of the academy being &#8220;hostile to religion.&#8221;
“Its sudden concealment in 2023—done hastily in response to a single baseless complaint—did a great disservice to the Academy’s heritage and to the memory of those the painting was meant to honor. To this day, no legal rationale has been provided, and the painting is reportedly out of public view in a flood-prone basement,” Cruz said. 
In January 2023, the academy covered the painting with a sheet to avoid the perception that it was &#8220;endorsing&#8221; Christianity, following complaints about the painting.
&#8220;Our priority is to ensure the Academy is a welcoming environment for all and that it respects all religions without endorsing one over any others,&#8221; the academy said at the time. &#8220;In light of this, the Academy has chosen to cover the painting with curtains and will also install a plaque describing its history. The curtains will remain closed when official Academy meetings and events are conducted.&#8221;
Later, the academy decided to discontinue the use of the Elliot See Room for official business and moved the painting to a downstairs chapel area.
Cruz previously wrote to Academy Superintendent Joanna Nunan to argue that displaying the painting did not violate the Constitution, as Military Religious Freedom Foundation President Mikey Weinstein has argued. 
Weinstein has <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKmyF-KUpTY" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promised</a> to start “World War Eight” if the painting is moved back to its previous location, warning the Trump administration to “Eff around and find out.” Weinstein called Duffy a “piece of s***” and said the midshipmen who cheered Duffy were “cowards” who “made a mockery” of their oath to the Constitution.

Ted Cruz Backs Trump Official’s Attempt To ‘Bring Jesus Up From The Basement’ — Literally

The United States and China on Monday announced an agreement to significantly reduce tariffs for 90 days while trade negotiations continue after top American and Chinese officials met in Switzerland over the weekend.
The deal means that President Donald Trump&#8217;s 125% reciprocal tariff on China will be reduced to 10%, with a 20% fentanyl tariff still in place, a significant drop from the 145% tariff placed on Chinese goods in the last few weeks. China will drop its retaliatory tariffs on the United States from 125% to 10%. The reductions are to be in place by Wednesday, May 14.
“After taking the aforementioned actions, the Parties will establish a mechanism to continue discussions about economic and trade relations,” said a joint statement from the United States and China. &#8220;These discussions may be conducted alternately in China and the United States, or a third country upon agreement of the Parties. As required, the two sides may conduct working-level consultations on relevant economic and trade issues.&#8221;
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, and China Vice Premier of the State Council He Lifeng will continue discussions.
&#8220;I would say one of the big takeaways from this weekend — the United States will continue a strategic rebalancing in many areas that were exposed as supply chain weaknesses during COVID, whether it&#8217;s medicines, whether it&#8217;s semiconductors, steel,&#8221; Bessent said. &#8220;We will continue moving toward U.S. independence or reliable supplies from allies on those — but the consensus from both delegations this weekend is neither side wants a decoupling.&#8221;
China will also suspend non-tariff actions taken against the United States since April 2 such as restrictions on exports of rare earths and penalties for certain American companies.
Bessent added that he would like to see China open to more American goods and said that the two countries now have a mechanism in place to continue trade discussions. He <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/12/treasury-secretary-bessent-says-hes-likely-to-meet-with-china-again-in-next-few-weeks.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">later told</a> CNBC that he expected to meet with Chinese officials again in a few weeks to work toward a more &#8220;fulsome agreement.&#8221;
“We tried to identify shared interest,” he said. “We came with a list of problems that we were trying to solve, and I think we did a good job on that.”
The White House also wants to rebalance trade with China, noting in a release that the trade deficit with the communist country was $295.4 billion in 2024.
Bessent said that the Biden administration had failed to make China abide by previous trade agreements.
&#8220;We had an excellent trade agreement with China — and the Biden Administration chose not to enforce it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The Chinese delegation basically told us that once President Biden came into office, they just ignored their obligations.&#8221;

Greer noted that Chinese officials had indicated that they would be taking more steps to crackdown on the flow of fentanyl originating in China into the United States.
&#8220;Both the Chinese and the United States agreed to work constructively together on fentanyl and there&#8217;s a positive path forward there as well,&#8221; he told reporters.
Bessent noted that the Chinese Deputy Minister for Public Safety, who he noted was not &#8220;traditionally part of the trade team,&#8221; was present at the talks over the weekend. He said that official had a &#8220;robust and highly detailed&#8221; discussion on the fentanyl issue.
Stock markets worldwide surged due to the temporary agreement, and the U.S. stock futures also jumped.

U.S., China Release Details Of Agreement To Dramatically Slash Tariffs

A father who has been engaged in a year-long battle against his local school district asked the Trump administration on Friday to investigate Pennsylvania over its “systemic failure” to provide parents with a mechanism to hold school officials accountable. 
The controversy began after the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/school-enlists-genderqueer-witch-to-speak-to-students-about-dating-survey-them-about-their-sexuality" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allowed</a> a “genderqueer” witch to distribute a sexually-themed survey to 14-year-olds in May 2023 without parental consent. Chad Williams, a parent who lives in the district, says that no one has been held accountable for the distribution of the surveys, which he says violated state and federal privacy laws. 
Williams wants the Justice Department to look into both the school district and Pennsylvania after he says state entities failed to conduct any serious investigation. 
“Parents must be given the right to opt-out of instruction that is religiously offensive or otherwise violates parental rights and the failure of a school district to afford such opportunities is a violation of due process and equal protection,” the Pacific Justice Institute&#8217;s Janice Lorrah wrote in a complaint sent to Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education recently closed the educator misconduct complaint that Williams filed against the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District. 
In an email to district parents, Sanville celebrated the conclusion of the Pennsylvania Department of Education probe and said that school complaint processes had been &#8220;weaponized for personnel grievances.&#8221;
Williams told The Daily Wire that no one from the state interviewed him or allowed him to present evidence during its year-long investigation. He now says that he needs the Justice Department to step in because Pennsylvania has dropped the ball. 
“Unlike other states, which have robust administrative mechanisms to investigate and adjudicate privacy violations, Pennsylvania lacks a centralized complaint system, dedicated oversight, and effective enforcement, thus denying parents and students due process under the Fourteenth Amendment,&#8221; his complaint says. 
“Instead, Pennsylvania delegates complaint handling to local education agencies, leaving parents without recourse when a school district fails to — or refuses to — follow its own policies and procedures,” the complaint adds. 
Williams believes that the district violated the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. He points out that President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-radical-indoctrination-in-k-12-schooling/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> on “ending radical indoctrination” in public schools specifically calls out violations of the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment. 
In previous communications with parents, the district <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/school-admits-to-surveying-students-about-sexuality-without-parental-permission" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admitted</a> that the surveys were in violation of district policy and federal privacy laws. The surveys asked students about their gender identity and whether they had ever been “pressured” into a sexual act or whether someone had pressured them to do something sexual.
“The district admitted that they violated those statutes but yet the state wouldn’t take any disciplinary action for the violations of law,” Williams told The Daily Wire.
