True Feminist: Gloria Steinem Dedicates Her New Book to Her Illegal Abortionist

The Feminist Icon, Gloria Steinem, 81, follows predictable measures of feminism by dedicating her latest book, My Life on the Road, to the man who performed her illegal abortion, Dr. John Sharpe.

The dedication reads:

Knowing that she had broken an engagement at home to seek an unknown fate, he said, “You must promise me two things. First, you will not tell anyone my name. Second, you will do what you want to do with your life.” Dear Dr. Sharpe, I believe you, who knew the law was unjust, would not mind if I say this so long after your death: I’ve done the best I could with my life. This book is for you.

Steinem was living in London and just 22 when Sharpe aborted her unborn child. She had broken off an engagement to the man who impregnated her, a man that Steinem claims was the “wrong person” for her. She anticipated that she would feel pressured into marrying this man if she had had his child, so she decided that terminating the baby was most conducive to her wants.

Despicably and selfishly, Steinem chose to end a precious innocent life, a human with its own unique DNA, because it didn’t fit into her vision.

It doesn’t matter that Steinem chose to sleep with this man, or that she most likely opted out of birth control; it doesn’t even matter that her elective abortion was still illegal in London at the time. What mattered to Steinem was pursuing the selfish vision she had for her life-a vision which would not be halted for anything, not even an innocent life.

Abortion is wrong; it doesn’t exactly end well for the baby at hand whether they are male or female, but let’s look at it through the lens of a feminist and only focus on a female baby being terminated for selfish gain. What if this baby, whom the world never had an opportunity to know, had been a little girl? Can we really call Steinem a feminist if she sacrificed a little girl’s life for her own selfish desires? It seems as though her feminist beliefs were limited, not extending to a possibly female unborn child.

No, Steinem was not a victim nor brave, she was just a young woman looking for an illegal way to end a life so she could selfishly pursue hers without any “disruption.” Dr. Sharpe was her savior. An appalling man willing to commit an illegal abortion on a young woman is praised by feminists like Steinem. And in turn, the media will praise Steinem as heroic for her by-all-means-necessary-stomping on “patriarchy.”

“It seems to me that every child has the right to be born loved and wanted, and every person has the right to control — male and female — to control their own bodies from the skin in.”

Gloria Steinem

According to Steinem, choosing herself over a voiceless fetus is feminism in its truest form. In fact, she recently told NPR that woman’s reproductive freedom (code word for abortion) is “tied for first” with sexualized violence among all the glaring issues facing women worldwide.

A telling final thought from Steinem’s mouth:

“It seems to me that every child has the right to be born loved and wanted, and every person has the right to control — male and female — to control their own bodies from the skin in.”

By Steinem’s own account, all children have the right to be born unless they are not wanted nor born “loved.” This leaves the unborn reliant on qualifiers to be born. If, for whatever reason, one does not “want” a child, that child does not deserve to exist: in other words, feminism trumps life.
