Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli has extended a high-profile invitation to British activist and outspoken immigration critic Tommy Robinson, calling him a “courageous leader” in the fight against radical Islam. Robinson, known for his unapologetic stance against jihadist extremism and his support for Israel, is set to visit the Jewish state in mid-October, immediately following his October 13 court appearance in the U.K.
“In the wake of the horrific Manchester terrorist attack, Israel and the Jewish people stand firmly with our allies in the United Kingdom,” Chikli wrote on X. “Tommy is a courageous leader on the front line against radical Islam… He has proven himself a true friend of Israel and the Jewish people.”
The invitation marks a striking gesture of solidarity between segments of Israeli leadership and Western nationalists who have consistently supported Israel’s right to self-defense — especially since Hamas’s October 7 massacre.
Robinson, who accepted the invitation, emphasized the trip as a personal mission—not one motivated by compensation or fanfare, but by shared values and a mutual struggle. “The horrific Manchester attack has strengthened my conviction that the United Kingdom and Israel are fighting the same battle—against the scourge of Islamic jihad,” Robinson posted on X. “Their fight is our fight. I’m a proud British patriot and a Zionist.”
During his visit, Robinson plans to tour key sites across Israel, including Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and the Nova Festival site — scene of Hamas’s atrocities on October 7, 2023. He also intends to visit Yad Vashem, the Jabotinsky Institute, and the Knesset, where he’ll meet with Israeli lawmakers including Chikli. The visit, he said, will be an opportunity to deepen his understanding of Zionism and Jewish history. “Jabotinsky is the ideological forefather of Prime Minister Netanyahu, one of the great leaders of the world.” Robinson noted, adding his desire to learn more about the roots of Jewish national self-determination.
Robinson’s vocal support for Israel hasn’t come without backlash. After some liberal Jewish groups criticized the invitation, Robinson didn’t back down. “The elitist Jews, the woke, liberal, open-borders Jews—they don’t represent ordinary Jews,” he said. “The conservative Jews who invited me—like Netanyahu and Chikli—do.”
As expected, Robinson’s candor sparked further accusations of antisemitism—claims he flatly rejected. “Calling out ‘elitist Jews’ is not in any way antisemitic,” he said. “That is a tool used by infantilised indoctrinates who despicably use the term/slur (dependent on context) to protect themselves from legitimate criticism while simultaneously covering their ideological opponent with a disingenuous mud they hope sticks so they don’t have to tackle the real issue. Attacking the man while ignoring the message is a typical leftist bulls*** thing to do and it doesn’t wash with me.”
Prominent Jewish voices defended Chikli’s decision and Robinson himself.
Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana declared, “Looking forward to hosting you at the Knesset mate! You’re doing a great service to your country, but more than that. As I have said repeatedly since Oct 7th, far from being a local struggle — this is a global battle, between the forces of radicalism, extremism and fundamentalism, and those of freedom, liberty and democracy. Western civilization is under attack — and it’s our duty to stand firmly together — and win. See you in Jerusalem!”

Robinson recently led the “Unite the Kingdom” rally in London, where nearly 150,000 people gathered to defend British culture, heritage, and free speech.
As Israel faces mounting global hostility and Jews in Europe confront rising antisemitism, Tommy Robinson’s visit may prove more than symbolic — it may be a defining moment in the growing alliance between nationalist conservatives and defenders of the Jewish state.
