Tim Ballard, the anti-child trafficking activist upon whom the movie “Sound of Freedom” is based, is starting a new venture that sources say will coordinate the efforts of multiple groups.

Ballard left his post as CEO of the Glenn Beck-backed Nazarene Fund after announcing the new plan, and also recently parted ways with Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), the organization he founded and which was the basis for the wildly successful movie. The activist and former Department of Homeland Security agent told Tim Pool recently he was stepping down to start a new foundation called the Spear Fund, which a source close to Ballard described as coalition of anti-trafficking groups that will help coordinate efforts. Ballard is expected to release details about the project soon.

“I have hope,” Ballard said during the podcast as donations started pouring in. “For the first time I have hope that we can actually make an enormous impact in the fight against child slavery.”

The Nazarene Fund issued a statement after Ballard’s departure, saying it remains committed to its cause.

“Tim Ballard is no longer the CEO of the Nazarene Fund,” the organization said. “The Nazarene Fund continues to be focused on our mission to Rescue, Rebuild and Restore. There are so many people around the world who are in need of our unique services and we are grateful for the support we receive to help us accomplish our mission.”

The news came after Ballard’s exit from OUR, the group that “Sound of Freedom,” which has taken in more than $100 million at the box office, is based upon.

“While Tim Ballard stepped away from OUR several weeks ago, we continue to pursue OUR’s core mission,” OUR said in a statement. “We are excited that many are learning about the organization and its rescue operations and are seeking ways to support it.”

Ballard was previously appointed by former President Donald Trump to a federal advisory panel on human trafficking.
