On Wednesday, BuzzFeed and Cosmopolitan magazine broke shocking news: home building family Chip and Joanna Gaines attend a church where the pastor – you won’t believe this – thinks that homosexuality is a sin. Here’s the Cosmo tweet:

Here’s the relevant portion of the BuzzFeed mindblowing scoop:
Their church, Antioch Community Church, is a nondenominational, evangelical, mission-based megachurch. And their pastor, Jimmy Seibert, who described the Gaineses as “dear friends” in a recent video, takes a hard line against same-sex marriage and promotes converting LGBT people into being straight….When reached by phone, Antioch Community Church’s communications director pointed me toward the church’s website under “beliefs,” where it states, “Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime.”
This is shocking news to those who have never read a book called the Bible. Here is the Pentateuch on homosexual activity, for those who haven’t read it:
“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.” (Leviticus 18:22)
“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.” (Leviticus 20:13)
Here’s the New Testament:
“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.” (Romans 1:26-27)
“ Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
“The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching.” (1 Timothy 1:9-10)
That’s not even touching the traditional Biblical interpretations of the events in Sodom and Gomorrah.
So the headline here is actually: “OH MY GOD SOMEBODY GOES TO A CHURCH WHERE THE PASTOR ACTUALLY BELIEVES THAT HORRIBLE BIBLE THING.”
Now, here’s the wonderful thing about America: the Gaines family can go to a church where the pastor believes homosexual activity is a sin. They can even believe it. So long as they don’t mistreat anybody – and there is not one single solitary shred of evidence that they have – they’re free to do so. They can hold beliefs! Yes, even Bible believers are allowed to believe things! In fact, that was the reason the Pilgrims came to the United States!
And here’s something just as wonderful: the left doesn’t have to care! They can ignore those crazy Bible-clingers. Why should BuzzFeed care whether the Gaines think homosexual activity is a sin? The editors likely don’t even believe in the concept of sin, let alone in the Bible. They’re free to think the Gaines are idiots.
But the idea here is that the Gaines career must be destroyed for their religious thoughtcrime. They are not allowed to think things. They aren’t even allowed to go to a church where the pastor says things with which they might not even agree.
Of course, Barack Obama can go to a church for twenty years where the pastor declares America should be damned and that 9/11 was chickens coming home to roost, that America created AIDS to kill black people in Africa and that Israel shouldn’t exit, and the media shrug it off. After all, Obama didn’t have to agree with Wright!
But if a home building Christian family goes to a Christian church where they hear traditional Christian teachings, they must be destroyed.
