“The View” host Sunny Hostin floated a conspiracy theory on Friday’s show, decrying the NFL’s plan to remove the end zone “End Racism” slogan that has been present on the field since 2021, claiming that it had been axed in an effort to appease President Donald Trump.

The conversation began with an obviously disappointed Whoopi Goldberg announcing that Trump was to be the first sitting president to attend the NFL’s big game in New Orleans on Sunday.

Goldberg complained that the league had opted to remove the “end racism” slogan, replacing it with “choose love” at one end and “it takes all of us” at the other — and noted that the NFL had stated it had nothing whatsoever to do with Trump.

“I think it’s a little fishy and shady,” Hostin replied. She went on to say that the league had announced the decision based on recent tragedies including the fires in Los Angeles, the plane crash at Reagan National Airport, and the terrorist attack in New Orleans — and while she agreed that those victims should be honored, she objected to the manner in which it was being done.

“I don’t know how ‘choose love’ and ‘it takes all of us’ relates to that,” she said, adding that she absolutely believed the slogan being removed was related to Trump’s attendance. She then said that she did not believe that “racism is over,” suggesting that the old slogan was more needed.

Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin weighed in on the issue, arguing that “hashtag activism” in general was “lazy” and didn’t actually accomplish anything tangible. She also pointed to a recent interview with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who said that even as the federal government and numerous major corporations are putting an end to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, the NFL plans to maintain its DEI policies.

The conversation rounded out with a brief discussion in which it was revealed that despite the strong opinions of the others at the table, Griffin was the only one present who actually knew when the slogans had first appeared on the field.
