The cohosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; were split over the Senate&#8217;s recent change in dress code — namely that the traditional <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ap-says-fetterman-flouting-senate-dress-code-shows-robust-recovery-from-depression" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dress code</a> requiring male senators to wear suit coats while on the Senate Floor for deliberations and votes would not be as strictly enforced going forward.
The change – largely presumed to be designed to protect Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/john-fetterman-delivers-nasty-insult-to-gop-leaves-msnbc-host-stammering" target="_blank" rel="noopener">John Fetterman</a> (D-PA) and his apparent refusal to abandon the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-fetterman-meets-biden-during-pennsylvania-visit-in-hoodie-and-shorts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hoodies and gym shorts</a> he seems to love — provoked a wide range of responses from the cohosts.

Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the discussion, calling the move &#8220;really wonderful&#8221; for Fetterman and suggesting that the Republicans&#8217; fixation on decorum in the Senate was the real problem. &#8220;If you don&#8217;t want to wear shorts and a sweatsuit, you&#8217;re not obligated to,&#8221; she said.
Joy Behar — a former teacher herself — compared the change to schools allowing teachers to dress more casually and argued that it had &#8220;sent the wrong message&#8221; to students. But with regard to the Senate dress code, she still complained about Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for commenting on the issue. &#8220;He&#8217;s been dumbing down America for the past couple of years,&#8221; she said.

Alyssa Farah Griffin called on Republicans to let the issue go and leave Fetterman alone, but argued in favor of a dress code for elected officials.
Cohost Sunny Hostin also favored a dress code, saying that wearing gym attire on the Senate Floor was demeaning to the office. &#8220;You don&#8217;t wear jeans and you don&#8217;t wear hoodies and you don&#8217;t wear what you would wear coming out of the gym &#8230; it demeans the office,&#8221; she said.

Goldberg jumped back in, saying, &#8220;I don&#8217;t care what you wear as long as you get the job done! I don&#8217;t care! If that&#8217;s how he&#8217;s comfortable &#8230; I dress in what I wake up in.&#8221;
She went on to suggest that a dress code was actually a violation of Fetterman&#8217;s rights.
