The Clintons Continue To Back Biden, Urge Donors To Keep Giving To Him: Reports

Former President Bill Clinton and twice failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton reportedly are still standing behind President Joe Biden as members of the Democrat Party urge him to end his re-election campaign over fears that cannot win this fall.

NBC News reported that they have been privately “supportive of Biden’s decision to stay in the race and have been actively encouraging donors to stay with him.”

Those close to the Clintons said that they were “deferential” about his decision to not drop out, the report said.

They also have reportedly been in touch with the White House offering to help in any areas that Biden needs.

CNN reported one person close to the Clintons said that they were “deferential to Biden’s decision” while a different source said that they were “deferential to the process.”

The two have said that ultimately it does not matter what anyone says or thinks, that if Biden does not want to drop out that he will be the party’s nominee and will face Trump in November.

Large Democrat megadonors have started to pause donations to the party as they try to pressure Biden to quit by cutting off all the resources that he needs to compete.

“I don’t know how you campaign with a broadening electoral map without money. I don’t know what they’re doing. I don’t know,” a top Democrat donor told CNN. “I’ve never seen this strategy where you think you can win without money.”

The New York Times reported that Vice President Kamala Harris, who many Democrats want to be the candidate who replaces Biden as the nominee, had an emergency call with top donors on Friday, although its not clear if her intent was to calm them down or take things in a different direction to suit her own political interests.

Top Democrat donor Reid Hoffman encouraged other Democrat megadonors to join the call, saying that they find themselves in a “rapidly evolving environment.”

“With the stakes as high as they are this cycle, we have to remain focused on the critical work that needs to be done to protect our democracy,” he added. He said that the meeting would “discuss urgent, emerging needs”.
