Rapper Aaron Carter was left out of the memorial segment on Sunday night at the 2023 Grammy Awards — after he died in November at the age of 34 — and fans are not happy about it.

During the annual awards show’s “In Memoriam” segment, tributes were given to stars that we lost in 2022 — such as country legend Loretta Lynn, Olivia Newton-John, Coolio, David Crosby, rapper Takeoff and many more, Yahoo.com reported.

Stars like Kacey Musgraves, Sheryl Crow, Mick Fleetwood, Quavo, and Bonnie Raitt gave performances to honor those who passed away last year during the segment.

However, by the end of the portion of the show that included images of lost stars like Naomi Judd, Lisa Marie Presley and DJ Stephen “Twitch” Boss, fans noticed that Carter was nowhere to be found and took to Twitter to react.

“Since the Grammys chose not include Aaron Carter’s picture while tributing the passed away singers. I’ll just post my own mini tribute because that’s so sad,” one fan wrote. “Rest In Peace Aaron Carter #Grammys2023.”

“Okay but the #Grammys leaving #Aaroncarter out of the tribute has me pissed! wtf!?!?,” another tweeted.

While another wrote, “Really [RecordingAcad]?? HOW do you leave [aaroncarter] out of the in memoriam? He sold millions of albums, his life was music. I am stunned and saddened you didn’t include him. #GRAMMYs #Aaroncarter.”

“Why the heck wasn’t Aaron carter included in the memoriam part of the #GRAMMYs ?” one person tweeted. “That was cold.”

“They really snubbed Aaron Carter during the death tributes at the Grammys. Just wow. Not impressed. #Aaroncarter#GRAMMYs,” another added, Page Six noted.

While another shared, “Genuinely don’t understand why Aaron Carter was left out of the in memoriam … he completely changed the teen pop music game, broke so many records, and truly paved the way for so many young pop stars that followed him. #GRAMMYs.”

However, despite the fact that the “I Want Candy” singer didn’t appear in the national broadcast show Sunday night, on the official website for the Recording Academy Carter’s name does appear on a much longer list of those who died in the music community last year, Yahoo.com noted.

Carter was found dead at his home in Los Angeles. The official cause of death has not yet been released, although the coroner has reportedly ruled out drowning as a possibility. His family believes that he died of a drug overdose.
