A conservative student group at the University of North Texas (UNT) received threats after they placed 250 Easter eggs filled with Bible verses around campus.

A slew of left-wing activists announced on social media that they would compete to see who could capture and destroy the most eggs. One student went as far as to message the YCT chairwoman and tell her to kill herself.

“Time to stomp some eggs,” one student tweeted. “Time to do a capture the egg challenge everyone,” another said.

“Alright guys whoever finds and throws the most away wins a prize,” said Audrey Seeker, a hospitality management student.

One student expressed that she would be “so pissed” if she found an Easter egg on campus that was filled with a Bible verse.

The YCT members were shocked at how much pushback the egg hunt received. The group’s chairwoman, Kelly Neidert, told The Daily Wire that Easter eggs with Bible verses “shouldn’t be this controversial.”

“This was intended to be a fun event for everyone. You don’t need to be a Christian to read an uplifting Bible verse and appreciate it,” Neidert said. “One student even messaged and told me to kill myself over this event, which was a little upsetting because some Bible verse Easter eggs shouldn’t be this controversial.”

Another YCT member — who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retribution — told The Daily Wire that he was shocked that students were this angered. “We’re doing this for a Christian holiday,” he said. “What else would they expect in the eggs?”

Cheryl Newman, a mother of a UNT student, ripped Nediert because she did not feel the activity was inclusive to students with different religions. Neidert reassured the mother that the agnostic and Jewish students involved in YCT were “completely fine” with the activity as “you don’t have to be Christian to read a Bible verse.”

Newman said that the conservative organization should stop complaining about “not feeling included on campus” as they were not inclusive to other religions during Easter festivities.

YCT has routinely faced pushback from illiberal students who wish to silence the organization. In October, student activists staged a game of capture the flag to vandalize a pro-life memorial for the unborn.

Video footage shows activists ripping pink flags out of the ground and jumping with glee after capturing a single flag. Liberal students paraded around with the stolen flags and cursed at the pro-life student who asked for the flags back.

In July, student activists created a Change.org petition calling for the removal of the YCT chapter for “hateful actions.” The petition, signed and created by the UNT College Democrats and other multicultural affinity groups, claimed the conservative group “harassed” LGBT groups and multicultural leaders. One activist took the campaign a step further by performing a satanic witchcraft ritual, or a “hex,” against Neidert.
