<p>Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ted-cruz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ted Cruz</a> (R-TX) highlighted during a recent episode of his podcast how the identity of one of the IRS whistleblowers who has come forward to allege misconduct during the criminal investigation of President Joe Biden&#8217;s son undermines any claims that the whistleblower is coming forward for political reasons.</p>
<p>Cruz noted that one of the IRS whistleblowers <a href="https://waysandmeans.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Whistleblower-2-Transcript_Redacted.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Congress that he is a gay man married to a man and that he is a Democrat.</p>
<p>The senator said that the deal Hunter Biden got was a &#8220;sweetheart deal&#8221; that the Biden administration &#8220;desperately, desperately, desperately wants to close the door&#8221; on.</p>
<p>&#8220;At this point, the statements between Merrick Garland and David Weiss on one side, and the two IRS whistleblowers on the other side are entirely in conflict,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The whistleblowers, as I&#8217;ve noted, we have no reason to think they&#8217;re lying. One of them is a gay Democrat who&#8217;s married to a man.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Both of them are career IRS employees, neither of them have any indication that they&#8217;re in any way, shape, or form Republican,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;And they&#8217;ve come over and risked their entire careers by calling out what appears to be a pattern of felonies.&#8221;</p>

<p>Hunter Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-biden-reaches-plea-deal-over-tax-crimes-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> reached a deal with Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss last month that will see him plead guilty to failing to pay about $100,000 in taxes for 2017 and for failing to pay a similar amount for 2018. The tax charges Hunter faces are misdemeanors.</p>

<p>He is expected to not face any jail time and to be given two years of probation.</p>
<p>The 53-year-old will also reportedly enter a diversion program upon admitting the illegal purchase of a firearm in 2018. The gun charge could be revoked from his record upon completion of the diversion program.</p>
