It is no secret that actress Susan Sarandon is feelin’ the Bern. But the avid Bernie Sanders supporter, who has often criticized Hillary Clinton, broke some news when she told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Monday evening that she did not know if she would vote for Hillary in the general election if she were to become the Democrat party’s nominee.
“I think Bernie would probably encourage people to [support Hillary if he loses] because he doesn’t have any ego in this thing,” Sarandon said. “But I think a lot of people are, ‘sorry, I just can’t bring myself to [vote for Hillary].'”
“How about you personally?” asked host Chris Hayes.
“I don’t know. I’m going to see what happens,” Sarandon replied.
Hayes, seemingly blown away by such an answer from the actress, replied in disbelief: “Really?”
“Really,” she quickly reacted.
“It’s dangerous to think we can continue the way we are with the militarized police force, with the death penalty and the low minimum wage and threats to women’s rights and think you can’t do something huge to turn that around. The country is not in good shape if you’re in the middle class. It’s disappearing,” she continued.
The actress then blasted Hillary for her disastrous handling of foreign policy in Libya and added that the former secretary of state’s reliance on “Henry Kissinger” ideology was problematic.
“I don’t like the fact she talks about Henry Kissinger as her go-to guy for the stuff that’s happened in Libya,” said Sarandon. “I don’t think it’s good.”
Sarandon has recently said that Hillary has “failed her” and scolded those on team Hillary who have ridiculed women for not supporting the frontrunner simply because she is a woman, calling such action “insulting.”
