"That's telling me you don't care about my lived experience," she complained.

Sunny Hostin claimed on Monday that it was “un-Godly” and “not Christian” to oppose woke culture, arguing that people who did so only proved that they did not care about their neighbors.

Hostin and “The View” cohost Whoopi Goldberg discussed their own personal histories, saying that because they had always been around people who were fighting for things like Civil Rights and other issues, they had “never been asleep.”

“I thought about the conversations that you and I have had, Whoopi, so many times about the co-opting of the word ‘woke,'” Hostin began. “And the fact that the right somehow has made it a dirty word.”

“To be woke is a word that came out of the African American community and it was about being — acknowledging social justice inequities, acknowledging people’s suffering,” she continued. “It’s not a bad thing to care about other people, to care about the sufferings of others, and to act upon it.”

“And so Whoopi will often tell me, ‘I’ve never been asleep,'” she added. “And that’s how I feel … so it angers me when people are like, ‘This woke stuff gotta go.’ That’s telling me that you don’t care about my lived experience, you don’t care about the oppression of the LGBTQ community, you don’t care about the oppression of the disabled, you don’t care about the oppression of immigrants, you don’t care about your fellow neighbors — and that is un-Godly, that is not Christian.”

“You know what the most ironic thing is?” Ana Navarro asked. “They don’t care about it, and they don’t care about it while wearing big, fat crosses around their necks.”

Goldberg weighed in as well, saying that being exposed to “woke” was what actually made people better and arguing that positive change could really only be made by making people uncomfortable.
