On Thursday, actress Kirstie Alley, apparently fed-up with what she perceived as the patronizing air White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki adopts when speaking to the press, unleashed a blast in which she ripped Psaki for avoiding answering questions and instead resorting to “mean girl s***.”

Alley also referenced President Biden’s Build Back Better plan as she tweeted, “Omg Jen Saki [sic] … can you answer ANY question FULLY and without that condescending smirk? We are an audience of Americans who are listening in earnest for answers, not mean girl s***. Build your manners back better.”

Alley has not been unafraid to work in Hollywood despite having avowedly expressed views that would make her a pariah there; saying she voted for former President Donald Trump both in 2016 and 2020. In October 2020 she spoke to Sean Hannity of Fox News about her critics, saying:

They always attack me on the same three things: I’m a fat, irrelevant, Scientologist….But, this has been going on for 40 years, so I’m sort of prepared. That really is basically all they have to offer, so I honestly don’t take it too personally because I feel that people are angry and they have the right to say what they want to say, and I have the right to block them if I don’t like the way they speak.

Two days before the interview with Hannity, Alley had tweeted her support for Trump: “I’m voting for [Trump] because he’s NOT a politician. I voted for him 4 years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason. He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it folks there you have it.”

Alley spoke Hannity about the blowback she received for her tweet: “And I got this flood, I mean, thousands and thousands [of responses] going, ‘Do you know the definition of politician? Do you know what a politician is?’ …  and I do, and I know they know what I meant, and what I meant is that he is not a career politician. … We have a history in this country of people, not as much currently, but people of different occupations like farmers and tailors and oilmen and businessmen and generals coming in and servicing our country as the president of the United States, and even many of them when they left, they went back to their other job.”

In March 2020 Alley publicly thanked former President Trump during the beginning stages of the pandemic, lauding him for “taking charge and leading in a manner needed.” while stating, “Dear Mr. President. I wanted to thank you for ur recent decorum, sincerity, & care towards us. You’re taking charge & leading in a manner needed & wanted for this country. I highly commend you for ur boundless energy & willingness to solve problems. Thank you.”
