<p>At a Congressional hearing on COVID-19 vaccinations and other treatments on Wednesday, Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) slammed President Joe Biden for his vaccine mandates and punitive approach for health care workers who refuse to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.</p>
<p>&#8220;Though there is still plenty left to learn about COVID, one thing we know for sure at this point is that vaccinations are not a panacea against preventing the spread of the virus,&#8221; Scalise <a href="https://www.medpagetoday.com/publichealthpolicy/washington-watch/96226?xid=nl_mpt_DHE_2021-12-16&amp;eun=g2042099d0r&amp;utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Daily%20Headlines%20Top%20Cat%20HeC%20%202021-12-16&amp;utm_term=NL_Daily_DHE_dual-gmail-definition">said</a> during the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis <a href="https://coronavirus.house.gov/subcommittee-activity/hearings/global-crisis-needs-global-solution-urgent-need-accelerate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hearing</a>, entitled &#8220;A Global Crisis Needs a Global Solution: The Urgent Need to Accelerate Vaccinations Around the World.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Despite these facts, after nearly a year in office, President Biden still has no real strategy to protect American families from COVID,&#8221; the ranking member on the Coronavirus Crisis committee added.</p>
<p>&#8220;The Biden administration has tried to apply unlawful vaccine mandates to private companies with over 100 employees, to healthcare workers, to federal contractors, and even federal employees,&#8221; Scalise continued. &#8220;President Biden has dedicated more time trying to get healthcare workers fired if they don&#8217;t get vaccinated than he has spent on alternatives like therapeutics to keep families safe.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Daily Wire was the first major company to file a lawsuit against the Biden administration over his vaccine mandate for employers with 100 or more employees.</p>
<p>Just this week, Biden appeared to mock Americans concerned with his federal vaccine mandates for private and public workers as being obsessed with &#8220;freedoms,&#8221; The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-on-americans-concerned-about-vaccine-mandates-violating-personal-liberty-whats-the-big-deal">reported</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p><em>“This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Not the vaccinated, the unvaccinated. That’s the problem,” Biden said.  “Everybody talks about freedom about not to have a shot or have a test. Well guess what? How about patriotism? How about you make sure you’re vaccinated, so you do not spread the disease to anyone else.”</em></p>
<p><em>“What about that?” Biden continued. “What’s the big deal?”</em></p></blockquote>
<p>Scalise&#8217;s comments stand in stark contrast to Congressman James Clyburn (D-SC), the chair of the committee, who implored the Biden administration to do more for &#8220;equitable&#8221; distribution of the vaccine:</p>
<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Nearly 40% of people around the world have not yet received even a single dose of a coronavirus vaccine,&#8221; he said. &#8220;That&#8217;s 3 billion people who remain at far higher risk than they should be.&#8221;</em></p>
<p><em>&#8220;This inequitable access to the coronavirus vaccine is causing unnecessary death and suffering, and we have a moral obligation to save lives by expanding vaccine access,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;But ensuring that vaccines are available around the world is not just the right thing to do; it is necessary to protect our own health and economy.&#8221;</em></p></blockquote>
<p>On Wednesday, Scalise also <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/radio/2021/12/15/191460261/">told</a> &#8220;Breitbart News Daily&#8221; that &#8220;one of the big failures of the Biden administration is that they’ve only been focused on vaccinations, but they don’t want to do anything to deal with other alternatives [such as] therapeutics, natural immunity.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;There are no investigations or hearings that we’re having on the power of natural immunity — people that got COVID and survived it — and then what does that immunity give you?&#8221; he added. &#8220;It gives you a lot of ability to be safe from future variants, and yet they don’t want to focus on that because I think they still want to deal with government control.&#8221;</p>
