The king of Hollywood will be teaming up with the ex-queen of the Democratic party to produce a television show about the fight for women’s suffrage.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the progressive duo will be adapting Elaine Weiss’ critically acclaimed book “The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote,” the rights of which were optioned by Spielberg’s company Amblin Television.
Hillary Clinton will be stepping up as an executive producer and will play a pivotal role in selecting key talent.
“The book, published in March, follows the activists who led the decades-long fight to grant women the right to vote and sheds light on how close the battle to ratify the 19th Amendment really was,” reports THR. “The book celebrates those who changed history and laid the foundation for the civil rights movement that came decades later.”
It remains unclear at this point if the show will highlight that more Republicans voted for the 19th Amendment than Democrats.
No talent has yet been attached to adapt the book into a script, which Amblin plans to make into either a TV movie or limited series. The company will also shop the finished product to cable and streaming services.
In a statement, Hillary said the show could not come at a more “perilous” time in our history:

The book’s author Elaine Weiss reportedly saw parallels between the fight for women’s suffrage and the fight to put Hillary Clinton in the White House. For some reason, a corrupt enabler of an alleged sexual predator who regards abortion as an eighth sacrament losing the presidency is just like women being denied the right to vote.
Hillary’s leap into entertainment comes at exactly the same time as both Michelle Obama and Barack Obama signed a multiple-year deal to produce films and series with Netflix.
