In a video from 2017 that is making the rounds on social media this week, Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, took to the floor at the United Nations to denounce the Palestinian Authority, saying it is the “greatest enemy of the Palestinian people.”
In late-September 2017, Yousef spoke before the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which last October appointed the representative of Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, as chair of its social forum. The UNHRC’s anti-Israel bias has been clear for years. According to the UN Watch Database, between 2006 and 2022, the UNHRC adopted 99 resolutions against Israel, 41 against Syria, 13 against Iran, four against Russia, and three against Venezuela. In April, it passed a resolution demanding an arms embargo on Israel.
“My name is Mosab Hassan Yousef; I grew up in Ramallah as a member of Hamas,” Yousef began. “I address the words to the Palestinian Authority, which claims to be the ‘sole legitimate representative” of the Palestinian people. I ask, where does your legitimacy come from? The Palestinian people did not elect you and they did not appoint you to represent them. You are self-appointed; your accountability is not to your own people. This is evidenced by your own total violation for their human rights.”
“In fact, the Palestinian individual and their human development is the least of your concerns,” he continued. “You kidnap Palestinian students from campus and torture them in your jails. You torture your political rivals. The suffering of the Palestinian people is the outcome of your selfish political interests.”

“You are the greatest enemy of the Palestinian people,” he declared. “If Israel did not exist, you would have no one to blame. Take responsibility for the outcome of your own actions. You fan the flames of conflict to maintain your abuse of power. Finally, you use this platform to mislead the international community, to mislead the Palestinian society to believe that Israel is responsible for the problems you create.”

Regarding the terrorist group Hamas, Yousef recently told Jordan Peterson, “We have to eradicate Hamas. We have to finish Islamists. There is no room for savages in our civilization, and anyone who pose a threat against innocent civilians don’t have equal rights. It’s as simple as that.”
