A shooting at a California Spirit Halloween store left one woman dead and several others injured on Friday evening.

Police in Fairfield, California, said that the shooting took place just before 8:30 pm local time inside the Spirit Halloween store at Solano Town Center, according to a local ABC News report. They also stated that they believe that the suspect was specifically targeting someone in that store.

“Based on preliminary information obtained during the investigation, the shooting is believed to have stemmed from a targeted incident involving one suspect inside the Spirit Halloween store,” a police department statement confirmed.

One women, identified as 31-year-old Constance Hages, died at the scene — and six others were treated for gunshot wounds. Three of the victims — a 16-year-old male, a 19-year-old male, and a 32-year-old male — were taken to the hospital in critical condition. A 23-year-old male is also still hospitalized but his condition is listed as stable.

The last two victims were treated at the hospital and then released — two more males, aged 19 and 43.

Fairfield Chief of Police Dan Marshall addressed the public in a press conference on Friday night, asking anyone who knew anything about the shooting to please contact the department.

“We encourage anyone in the community with information to contact the Fairfield Police Department,” he said. “I know the mall has cameras, so hopefully we’ll get some of that footage.”

Family members informed police that Hages was pregnant at the time of her death.

“Detectives continue to actively investigate this case, reviewing video footage and other evidence to identify the individual responsible for this heinous act of violence,” police said on Saturday, and although they stated their belief that the shooting had been “targeted,” they have not yet given any indication as to who the target may have been. “Our department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim who died from their injuries. We also extend our thoughts to the other victims who were injured during this shooting.”

The FBI’s Sacramento field office, according to a CNN report, has offered resources to aid the Fairfield Police in their investigation.

“This is still a very active crime scene. Detectives are speaking with witnesses and diligently working to identify the suspect responsible for this horrific shooting,” Fairfield Police added.

The shooting in California came just hours after a fatal shooting at a Spirit Halloween store in Michigan. That shooting reportedly stemmed from a disagreement between two individuals and local police have already arrested a suspect in that case.
