<p>On Sunday, in the wake of the uproar that was triggered by a viral photo of Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams maskless as she sat in front of a large group of masked schoolchildren, the Abrams campaign released a statement on Instagram that contained no apology or mention of the fact that the children had to be masked for the photo, prompting former Fox News anchor and current podcast host Megyn Kelly to fire on Twitter, “So, she’s not sorry, and the kids can shove it. Got it.”</p>
<p>Kelly added in all caps. “UNMASK OUR CHILDREN.”</p>
<p>The Abrams campaign had written:</p>
<blockquote><p><em>It is shameful that our opponents are using a Black History Month reading event for Georgia children as the impetus for a false political attack, and it is pitiful and predictable that our opponents continue to look for opportunities to distract from their failed records when it comes to protecting public health during the pandemic. One of Stacey’s opponents downplayed the virus while trading stock to profit off the pandemic after his private coronavirus briefings as a Senator. Another of her opponents attacked mayors seeking to protect their citizens and has failed to expand access to Medicaid even as rural hospitals close. This pathetic, transparent, and silly attack is beneath anyone who claims he wants to lead Georgia.</em></p></blockquote>

<p>Kelly has been harshly criticizing the use of masks on children for some time; after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wore her “Tax the Rich” gown to the ultra-expensive Met Gala, Kelly tweeted, “A pathetic self-aggrandizing hypocrite. Meanwhile our kids are muzzled &amp; six feet apart all day long while trying to learn but she &amp; these other ‘Rules for Thee but Not for Me’ pols can parade around maskless &amp; in top of each other at the Met Gala bc, SCIENCE.”</p>
